Thoughts:
Disappointment from a parent is truly a punishment in and of itself. And good on Martin for hunkering down on the family breakfasts. Nice to see the Richardson-Smith family really connecting like this.
Oh, is Shanice about to tell Ted her decision about their future together? Hoping this goes well!
Jan and Mona! I have missed these two gossiping queens and their Orphey Gene's dates.
I love that Naomi is bringing a "care package" to Ashley, who looks like she has little-to-no interest in this visit. The poor dear is going through it in her grief.
Paper aeroplanes? I always sucked at those but the sentiment is really sweet. I hope it works for Ashley, even if it is temporary.
I feel like Jacob is too harsh on Grayson. I understand where he is coming from, but his harshness is a bit... overkill.
Oh, yay! Shanice does not want to give Ted up! That makes me so very happy. And speaking of inappropriate times, here comes Dana. Good on you, Ted, for being firm with Dana. It will continue to fall on deaf ears, but at least you did it.
Oh, damn. Not the cinnamon roll being a trigger for Mona... reminding her of Randy's so-called inappropriate moment with Lynette that had her clutching her Bible to her belt like a priss.
500 sheets of colour paper?!?! Damn. That brings me back to my childhood of those booklets.
Brian?! Brian?! I am going to assume this Brian is Derek's father, which is why this visit is going to be emotional for her.
Not Tyrell telling Bradley and Martin to get a room... when it is their home. Haha. But that was a cute moment. I liked that.
So Martin is not a gold star gay. Disappointing, but also understandable. But I appreciate how honest Martin is being with Tyrell. It cannot be easy to have this kind of talk with your child, no matter their age.
Whew... they wasted no time in removing Lia Whitmore as chief of staff. That was quick.
Not Dana trying to take over the press conference and put on the performance of losing Derek when she could not care less about him. He was not your favourite. You hated him. The histronics are ridiculous. And I hope that the press see right through it.
Type 2 diabetes? Interesting. Did not expect that to be why she is not into eating her cinnamon buns anymore.
So, Derek is going back home to Brian and Melody. That seems very sweet, and I hope it brings the Baldwin family closer and brings them comfort. And I think it is sweet of Brian to give Ashley some tokens of Derek's that he believes will be of meaning to her. So thoughtful.
Martin's continued transparency about realising his sexuality and walking into it is so refreshingly beautiful. I know so many have the same experiences.
Not Samantha clocking Tyrell's "big goofy smile". Ha. And I am glad Jessica is not going into details, and it is nice seeing them getting along without some underlying snark.
Super sweet of Shanice to stop by and check in on Ashley and bring what looks like some of her home cooking. Food from the heart. And what a sweet sentiment to host a memorial for Derek in Fairmont Crest. And at Uptown? Yeah. He loved it there.
Oo-wee, Brian is going to give it to Jacob. This is going to be very... interesting to say the least.
Oh no... this is the last thing that should be happening. Oh no... Tyrell's worst nightmare coming true. Poor thing.
Wow... an ounce of humanity in Dana by offering Grayson a genuine position at the clinic? Is it going to be Derek's former position, possibly?
Notes:
Montgomery and Tate did outstanding with today's scriptwork. Again, the former's history as continuity producer always shines in how he runs and flows the scenes. And it showed today in scenes remembering Derek and the character's history throughout the serial.
I have said it before and I will say it again: the lighting on this soap is unlike any other. The way they produce the morning light is just outstanding. Beyond outstanding, and it feels real. The way it is always sunkissed is brilliant.
Jen Jacob (Ashley) continues to shine in her work in this current storyline, regarding Derek's death and Ashley's ongoing grief. She is embodying the emotions so well. I feel her grief and it makes me want to just comfort her.
I appreciate the continued talks of sex on this soap. They do not shy away from the taboos of it all, especially when it does come to virginity and intimacy with a romantic partner.
