In her second stint at GL, headwiter Pamela Long wisely curtailed the expansion of faux Bauers. (Actor James Goodwin perhaps would have been better cast as Paul Kincaid, Hillary's stepbrother.) Unfortunately, however, Long instead brought in the Coopers, whose function on an already cluttered canvas was unclear. The show already had two working class, downscale families--the Reardons and the Shaynes--and did not need a third. The show already had a downscale diner, Company, and did not need another one. Actor Frank Dicopoulos, though agreeable, did not have sufficient star power to warrant the construction of a new family around him. Only 4 1/2 years younger than actor Greg Beecroft, Dicopoulos might have worked as a recast Tony Reardon. And Beth Ehlers could have been cast as some Reardon cousin or the like.
