This is the type of outrage-stirring that Pence specializes in. He's "owning the libs" by not wearing a mask. It gets Trump supporters going, and it also sends a clear message of support to those who think the virus is harmless or overstated. Tucker Carlson, hero to leftist grifters like Krystal Ball, has also been making these noises. They want to placate their base over being sent to illness or death.

Meanwhile, Trump is sending more people to their death by forcing meat packing plants to stay open. This is another reason why McConnell is adamant about forcing legislation that would waive liability for companies.

^ I agree the GOP is actively trying to undermine SS. I don't necessarily think they will get away with it, but we'll see. Notice how quickly so many people decided that the elderly are expendable during the pandemic?  It's really pretty shocking. I see people straight up saying things like "The people who die are over 70" and " the death rate is only 2% (!!!)".

Neither of those things are true, but damn, some people are just jumping on the crazy train. We would be awash in bodies if the death rate were really 2%, instead we are just awash in ignorance and apathy. I suppose since these people don't mind if the elderly die from Covid, they also won't mind them dying on the street for lack of SS money.

BTW, has anyone seen the video of the Covid test going around on the internet? I can only hope that's fake because I'm pretty sure I can't even bare to take the test, never mind survive the disease.

They probably thought no one would notice, or no one would be able to stop them. Even now I wonder how much of that money is just being given back to them under the table.

I read that they are now also telling people to send money back that was sent to dead people, after previously saying keep the money.

There's a lot of talk from some that this stimulus and small business loan plan was well run and has only looked bad because of negative media stories. I don't buy that. The whole thing has been a shambles, and even now when most people in need still haven't gotten anything, the GOP is already backing away from any attempt at help. It's just "go back to work, reopen the economy, everyone wants to go back to work." I don't buy it. Their astroturfed protests didn't get anywhere on the level of reaction they would have gotten in most years. Sadly it doesn't matter. The GOP, Trump, and quite a few in the media want the people to suffer and die, so they will.

    • I think Dani cares about her sister, but I agree with you. She's using this whole mess to be heard and make herself feel better. I wish Ted and Eva told her to fck off. I had to laugh when Dani commented on her and Anita confronting Ted. She acted as if they destroyed him. That's not what I saw. Dani has been dialed back from those first weeks, but I can't say she's likable. As long as she's throwing shade at Eva for her work as a hairstylist -- while ignoring that she did nothing except eat celery sticks and walk the runway -- she can kiss off. Barely tolerable, and Lindstrom is terrible in the role. I don't find him scary at all, and his money laundering plan is stupid as hell. I gagged when he texted Vanessa to ask if she was thinking about him. That's throw up time.   I just don't see how that makes Ashley any more interesting. And are we really asking for another storyline where a father connects with his adult daughter? I know there's no direct parallel to Eva's story, but come on. If you're in the minority, I'll join you. I have zero interest in any of that. -- I still fail to see Nicole and Vanessa as best friends. Nicole is grounded and stable and responsible, and Vanessa is not. It made more sense to have Dani and Vanessa being close. -- Ashley and Derek were actually OK today. I feel sorry for the actors, honestly, because they've been given nothing. It's crazy, because so much of the rest of the show is firing on all cylinders.
    • Same. But given how the writers like to have her have good moments and bad moments...and Dani has been background as of late...it's about time she had some bad moments.
    • I don’t even know why you responded to the bait.
    • I only watch for Sharon and she’s barely on. The only good thing going at the moment is Jack and Diane scenes and they’ve made Diane such a wuss lately which is making that unbearable to watch too
    • I feel like Earl Hamner and his crew brought in Richard* BECAUSE they knew almost right away that Robert Foxworth was so dull as Chase.  At any event, Richard, IMO, proved to be much more interesting as Angela's chief adversary. (*Or brought him back, depending on whether we're including the original "Vintage Years" pilot).
    • And it will also eventually air S2, which will air its finale in Canada this Thursday, May 15th! https://tvline.com/news/law-and-order-toronto-criminal-intent-season-1-2-the-cw-1235449356/ As an American that has managed to watch it in real time, it's very good. Frankly, I think it's the best of the L&O franchise as of now.
    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
