So sorry to hear about Kobe. I wasn't a huge Lakers fan back when I followed basketball (I was a San Antonio Spurs fan-boy).  I always respected Kobe for his love of the game and serious work ethic.   Rest in Peace to all those that died in the crash.

This is such a tragic news. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Kobe and his beautiful daughter Gianna. From what I saw of her she seemed to be very much like him, she looked like him and shared his love of basketball. There are now a lot of pictures and videos of these two being shared and looking at them is touching but also very sad. You can tell they were very close to each other.

This news definitely hits hard for a lot of people, including those who cared about Kobe and/or loved basketball in general. When I first really got into basketball when I was younger, Kobe and Shaq's Lakers were very dominant. They beat up on teams that I cared about and I rooted against their version of the Lakers. But I definitely thought they were talented and ended up respecting them as a players.

He was a great player, one of the greatest ones and he will be missed. My heart goes out to his wife Vanessa, their other three daughters and the families of the other people who died today in the crash.

Wait a minute.  Have we forgotten the rape allegations against Kobe?  My heart and prayers go out to his loved ones, but he wasn't exactly Peter Perfect, y'all.

I doubt they've  forgotten, they just have enough class to not harp on it until the body is at least cold.

Well, he paid off the accuser, so let's not forget what's important here; he was very good at throwing a ball into a hoop 🙄. It amazes me how much people overlook just because someone is athletic. Look at how much some of these NFL players get away with while still remaining popular and employed. It's nuts.

I do feel bad for his family though. His poor wife losing two family members so unexpectedly, it has to be a nightmare.
