GH's Edward Q was played by three great actors

David Lewis, Les Tremaine (TemP) & John Ingle. All to me were excellent

The forth Jed Allen had the temperment but was too young

Makes me wonder why they didnt go with Lloyd Bochner

The role of AW's Felecia as well

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of Jaime Lyn Bauer being offered a role that ultimately went to Susan Flannery, and I never saw JLB as Laura on Days, another piece of casting that seems so wrong. Of course the role of Stephanie would have been reshaped around whichever star they were able to sign.

Now Lauri on Y&R was in many ways the younger (emphasize younger) version of Susan Seaforth's Julie on Days, a beautiful vixen who was neurotic and self-destructive and sometimes harmful to others, yet basically sympathetic with an inner desire to overcome her weaknesses. Bill Bell understood this kind of woman well, and wrote great material for SSH and JLB to play. Each had a sympathetic man (Jed Allan's Don Craig, Tom Hallick's Brad Elliott) who tried to help her, was very attracted to her, but did not end up with her.

Neither Susan Oliver nor Rosemary Forsyth really worked as Laura, and there was the additional problem that because supercouple Laura and Bill were married, the writers had to find a way to break them up without alienating the audience or move Laura and Bill into the background or write them out.

two of the best recasts on The Bold and the beautiful:

Justin Torkildsen as Rick Forrester

Winsor Harmon as Thorne Forrester

Those two were so outstanding and i really loved them. I never cared for Jacob Young and enjoyed Justin so much more. Jacob will always be loved by me on AMC but not on B&B.

General Hospital:

Natalia Livingston as Emily Quartermaine... I liked the original one but Natalia took over my heart in an instant.

I always understood why KS was beloved as Maxie in the past but i am so over her by now. I really liked her break between 2010/11 when Jen Lilley took over.

I will always love Kristen for her portayal of that character Belle on Days but i am over her on GH.. Hell i even enjoyed Molly Burnetts short stint in July 2016. It seems to me that with Kristens Maxie we will never get any character developement at all.

    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
    • It does seem cheap and lazy for this show to have just one family. Passions was heavily criticized but it was nicely structured with a total of four families.
    • I think it was definitely a surprising reveal in the storyline. I had a hard time appreciating Evan because I couldn't get behind his interest in Amanda. But that's because I never thought Sandra Ferguson made her a compelling character (although to give her credit she occasionally had decent emotional scenes with Mac or Rachel).
    • I'll even go further... I'll make her re-think BeLief and create a new patent. Brooke needs stuff to do. Anything other than beg or be in her panties. We need her to be creative. But sadly Bradley has a very low opinion of these characters. To him Brooke is nothing more than sex and scandal... or a pathetic doormat. Ridge is nothing more than a chauvinist pig that needs to pit women against each other to feel like A MAN and Steffy is nothing more than her father's guard-dog. I don't even want to open my mouth about Hope. She is such a fiasco in my opinion... I will not suffer if they kill her off. Bradley pooped on her character and now it's too late to fix it. Annika is great and I would hate to see her go, but slutty Hope was not her thing. The vibe was missing.
    • I've seen Jason interact with Mitch and annoy him. That's as far as I recall. I didn't even have a slight idea that Evan had a vendetta against Rachel... That came as a surprise to me. I thought Evan was Iris's dog and that's it. Now he's definitely more interesting.
    • Thanks for these. I can't recall -- did Evan's vendetta have any position on Mitch, or was it all about Rachel? @Maxim have you seen any Frames intreracting with Mitch in any way?
    • Thank you for the tag! It's always a pleasure to see these little pearls of memories.
    • Uh-oh. Today just might’ve been the first Paula/Jeanne stinker. I have a feeling whose fault that might be though. So, Doug III is getting a job at the Pub?  It’s good to see him interact with other characters. I enjoyed his scenes with Roman, even though the talk of Frankie and Max seemed a little random. And it also could be really interesting now that Tate knows. Days really need to start pushing their rivalry again. We need some follow up from the punch. Tying it all to Holly, to Sophia’s pregnancy, to the guys that Doug III owes money to could be good.  But yeah, wayyy too much Leo again in today’s episode. Seriously, has anything changed with this nothing character? I thought it was all Ron’s fault, but maybe Greg Rikaart is (partially) responsible for Leo being so insufferable.  And yeah seriously, Rafe needs to throw all of these people out of his house. Including Gabi

But I do wonder who’s the mysterious voice that Gabi overheard with EJ on the night he was shot. Based on yesterday’s episode, I have a suspicion.
    • Add me to the group of people who think that Brandon has improved. He has. There's no doubt about it. Especially compared to the beginning. And he's improving in a way that... it makes me think that he realizes what the issues are and is addressing them. Of course, he's no master of acting at this point... but I don't cringe as much as I did. And I've seen people in Bold... I won't even have to name names, because everyone knows who they are... who are becoming even worse than what they were offering in the first place. So... I'm happy that in BTG... people are actually blossoming and improving. It surely means that the atmosphere is creative and nurturing talent.  BUT and it's a big butt... his relationship with his husband is still so lacking and ghastly. I am craving to see more action from these guys. I want to see Smitty's character. If he has any.
