I always wondered who was a closeted actor on the soaps. I saw a "most eligible" magazine post from 1977 in the archives. I know Val Dufour, George Reinholt, as well as sadly many of the male actors from the soaps who died young(less than 60) due to complications from AIDS circa 1983-1997ish. Any others. This is not to invade people's privacy. It's a different world now.

Was she on a soap?🤔

She is known for starring in the HBperiod drama series The Gilded Age

Not that it is the same thing, not at all, but I believe there are still "people" like agents, managers etc. who tell daytime actors who have moved on to primetime or film to hide their daytime beginnings.

I was thinking about Adam Harrington & I thought, well, I wondered, why doesn't his boyfriend make him get a decent haircut?! But, it seems that Frank likes the way he looks so maybe he is a type.

OMG, I love Adam Harrington's haircut.  He is beautiful.  So much sexier than all these high-and-tights, fades, and buzz-cuts most of the men younger than 70 seem to have these days. Gimme some long-ish hair parted in the middle.  I apologize for gushing . . .

To me, he looks so much better with less hair, nicely styled, nothing drastic ... do you at all see what I mean? If not, it's okay.

Well, he is certainly a handsome man.  But I still prefer his current hair style on GH.  Long-ish and parted in the middle.  Oh Lordy . . .

Like most things, it all just a matter of taste. So neither of us is wrong.

Another World 1975 - Liz Matthews (Irene Dailey) out on a date with Dr. Gavin (William Roerick)

In real-life Irene Dailey was a lesbian and William Roerick was gay - both with long-time partners

Is it still a topic of discussion, or has the conversation evolved, regarding social media reactions to actors being cast in LGBTQ+ roles who do not identify as queer in real life? I remember there being significant debate in recent years about whether straight actors were taking opportunities away from LGBTQ+ performers, especially given the limited representation available.

So, I found it interesting that a recently fired GH actress, known for playing lesbian characters in multiple projects, didn't seem to face criticism for not being queer herself. It appears that audiences are more focused on supporting lesbian love stories, regardless of the actor's personal identity.

I assume we are all cool with gay actors playing straight roles.  But, I am still a stickler for representation being used as opportunity for queer performers.  And, I don't think it is too much to ask that at least one partner in a gay romance story be cast with a gay actor.  DOOL may be worthy of criticism on many fronts, but at least they get this issue correctly most of the time.

I know that a big reason DAYS used Nancy & Craig for that late in life realization sl was because the actor was gay. I thought the sl was ruined because the choice of couple was so totally wrong because of the context of OG Nancy & Craig & Nancy being a BBW. I don't have any problem at all with gays being cast in gay roles but that was one time where they picked the wrong gay.

You're right about casting being different for the gals. I'm not sure why that is.
