I LOVED it when I was younger. And have read it twice. I know it's not for everyone's taste but I loved it more than DREAM BOY which I also loved. His descriptive-ness was perfection. You could see Nola, taste Nola, and smell it for better or for worse. And it has different points of views and I felt like they were all different though it does drag a bit near the end.

Perhaps it's because I, too, am a boy from a small town, but I remember it really resonating with me both times and the ending has haunted me for years.

I really should get around to buying my own copy some day...it really has stayed with me.

I don’t really mind it. The reality is that there’s just too much content out there for people to wade through without a recognizable title attached. This show sounds loosely like QAF, in that it’s about a group of friends, but that’s about it. I love the diversity and the New Orleans setting. I just hope it doesn’t get bogged down in black/brown/trans trauma and remembers to be fun and sexy.

I've watched the British version over and over and I think it still is relevant.  That soundtrack is great and the instrumental theme is a real earworm.

However, I also wonder if using the title for a completely new set of characters and stories is a setup for lazy social media critics to bemoan the lack of adherence to the original.  As Voltaire said, "a foolish adherence to consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

The full trailer has arrived. As I somewhat expected and feared, it feels a touch somber. (How would a show that loosely depicts the Pulse shooting be anything but somber?) Very Pose-inspired in a lot of ways.

Thank you for this.

I dk though. POSE is a TOUGH act to follow. And I don't know (outside of the moms) if anyone draws me in like Mama Blanca did. Or even Damon who was our eyes into the world of ballroom dance. Here? I like seeing the diversity, but I don't feel like I am represented. But this is only a glance. It made me think of the new GOSSIP GIRL.

I hope it does not take it long to find its footing like GOSSIP GIRL did. Willing to give it a chance just on the strength of the diversity and Kim Cantrell.

One thing I’ve also noticed is that this feels much “younger” than the previous iterations, even though the actors are of similar ages. Some of that is early 30s feels younger in the world at large than it did 15-20 years ago. Hopefully we get a well-rounded sense of these characters’ lives, including their work lives, which we saw in the previous versions.

I hope this reimagining doesn’t come across as a series of ticked identity boxes and trauma porn. It doesn’t have to be as light as, say, Noah’s Arc, but you know? Even the Showtime version, with its all-white primary cast, could often feel like it was bogged down by “issues” and trying to cover too many bases to tell a coherent story. We shall see how Stephen Dunn juggles all of this.

    • I just read that Alice Halsey, the new young Rachel, has just landed the role of Laura Ingalls on the Netflix reboot of Little House on The Prairie. https://deadline.com/2025/05/little-house-on-the-prairie-laura-ingalls-cast-alice-halsey-1236383465/ Soooo...I don't see her remaining on Days for too long.
    • Jason, can you give me those dates, pretty please? If so, I'll do an edit of her. She was such a delight.
    • Sure, babe. I found those once when I was desperately searching for an Alexandra Spaulding dinner party date & I literally struck out everywhere else. We should throw a cyber party & invite Matt Smith & ChickenNuggetz* & whoever helps them with the Vault & Jason47 & Eddie Drueding ...
    • My late mom remembered Jordan Clarke as Tim Ryan.. and she said he was vastly different than Billy.  She also said she remembered that Rita and Evie were more tangled up with Tim when both came on the show.. while he ended up leaving with another character.   Then Rita was moved into the Ed/Holly orbit taking on the scheming traits of Holly (this was around the time of the original Holly leaving), and Evie got pulled into Ben's orbit.. but not sure if this was during his brief relationship with Hope or not.
    • Not Doug acting like people felt Dani might act during this Ted reveal.   Awww an Andre/Eva scene.    Oooo Silk Press Sheila and her crazy woman music.    MMmmmm...multiple cliffhangers!!!! Kat vs Eva. Nicole vs Ted.    Awww hell no!!! Not Silk Press Sheila confronting the Duprees. Anita might eat her alive. lol. And I was never so glad as to not see them. I was already annoyed at Vanessa/Doug interrupting the action. I actually might have felt a way about seeing them. For once. lol. I do think they were edited out though.   I mean...it's kinda hard NOT to look so      Ooooo I didn't think about that.
    • Rest in peace, Ruth Buzzi! Laugh In was before my time, but from the clips I have come across on YouTube, she was a very funny lady. Prayers to her loved ones.
    • First, Martin vs Ted. Now Kat vs Ted.
    • Team Silk Press Sheila!  I hope she topples the mighty Duprees because that family has it coming. The spoilers that were posted last week for today's episode had Ashley/Derek mentioned, but as we saw, they weren't featured at all.  Was that part of the spoiler a mistake, or did the show edit them out.    Nice to see a bit of Vanessa/Doug.. and I'm fascinated by Vanessa's perspective in regards to Dani/Bill's marriage vs Nicole/Ted's marriage. While this was a good episode, it does highlight that the show is lacking non-Dupree related characters.
    • Cry me a river! lol. Oh, Silk-Press.     Awwww no good night for Dani and Andre.    Uh oh. They are at the house. It's dark and Mona did let everyone off for the night...
