I’m so happy I decided to start watching GH again! This month looks like it was the perfect time to start. Maura West is one of my favoritism actresses and she has been phenomenal. Not only with the fallout from  Kiki’s death but also the build up. The soft, sensual chemistry with “Kevin” and the fight with Kiki were so strong that it propelled the death scenes even more. I didn’t think she’d find as interesting a character as Carly, but I love Ava. I hope Ryan continues to kill off well known characters before he goes.

They could afford to lose a couple people and the story has potential. So far I’m enjoying the show in terms of the cast and production values, but it often lacks momentum. If they had a really strong storyteller they’d be all set because the cast is good.

*praying Ryan gets Nina next*

I never thought Michelle Stanford could get more annoying than the final years of Phyllis but she had proved me wrong here. Idk if she’s well received, but she truly serves no purpose and just seems like a cartoonish clown when she shows up.

Last question, has the trans doctor had any hints of romance with anybody?

Thanks.  That was during one of the periods when I only checked in on the show here.

I just want to se Chase and Michael make out.

Nina has no business in the story about Charlotte.  None.

She also had a scene with Liz at her home.  I think it was at Liz’s House.

To be fair, that's 75% of the cast at any given time. I don't think she's anything special in the acting department,  but they've done nothing to give her a pov about anything other than her gender identity.

No she's not well-received. I'm pretty sure at least 80% of the fans dislike or even hate her. Nina has never served a purpose and she's been on the show for 4.5 years. If people like her, it's because they like Michelle Stafford from her time on Y&R. That's about it.

She had some nice scenes with Liz a few weeks ago where we got a bit of perspective about why chose her career path and how hard it is for her when patients don't make it. Naturally, this was all about Oscar, but it was nice. But yes, she has appeared in 7 episodes, about one a month on average. She doesn't really serve a purpose outside of trans visibility, which I respect in its own right, but GH should be less obvious about their political agenda and weave her into more stories if they want us to consider her an actual cast member. I agree that she's nothing special in the acting department but she's gotten better and is at least trying, which I can't say for all of the cast members, especially the veteran ones.

It amazes me that she's still around considering. Usually if the soap swaps don't work they get rid of them after a year or two. Speaking of, does Steve Burton actually do anything? In the month I've watched it's like he's hardly there and when he is on screen Sam and Jason don't do much. I grew to love him on Y&R and hated when he left, but I figured he'd have a good story at GH since they used to be obsessed with Sonny and Jason.

Griffin and Kiki and the teacher and Michael have the same issues for me-  the dialogue is so bad and so stilted for people their ages, that it all just seems hokey.  Same with the teens, although I like Cameron so far and he seems to at least get that just saying the words is not enough.

I get that it is more noticeable with them because the better actors on the show make the crappy dialogue more palatable.

I’m so frustrated with this show.  This HW team is producing stories that I like, featuring a decent amount of the cast in interesting ways.  But the pacing and the dialogue is awful, and a few key casting issues are keeping the show from really being the best it has been since early Carlivati.

I am kind of shocked that they showed Jordan and Curtis in bed together post wedding.  Maybe they are really gong to invest in them.

    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
    • There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.

    • Well now we had Ashley's reaction-and weren't we all gasping when she appeared to hate it-but she was just joking!! She loved it. Now we have to see Abby's reaction, and maybe Mamie could come back to say she loves it. How about Jill via Zoom giving her opinion (she'll love it) and bring in a day player to play Mrs Martinez to say she loves it also... I feel bad to keep dumping on this show (not really) but when the choices they make are so inane, it's the only entertainment value the show has. Let's unpack the Nikki birthday story. So Claire wants to throw her Nana a birthday bash as away of endearing Kyle to Victor. Don't quite get the logic there, but OK. She hires a party planner who makes ridiculous suggestions. Slightly annoyed that Y&R are hiring someone for this role for 5 episodes when we never see doctors, co- workers etc. But OK to that to. With all the talk we are expecting something special. What we get is the Jazz Lounge hideously decorated with some ugly tablecloths and a few tacky decorations. They needed a planner for this? Then the guest list consists of family members (no grandchildren)and a few others. Hardly a party. As usual the costuming is pretty awful. A red and black theme ? And our guest of honor is sporting a do that looks like a cross between Cameron Diaz in Something about Mary and Marie from Roxette. They should have had an intimate dinner and ditched all the fanfare. Would have been way more believable.

    • Her accent sounds horrible and doesn't fit in line with the character or the dialogue. I was just messing around on YouTube and perusing early Tad and Dixie videos. Notably, Dixie, a resident of Pigeon Hollow, West Virginia, has no discernible accent. i have no idea why she would add a defunct accent to this character now. I want to do an honest survey here. I watch BTG every day and I love it. It's not perfect, but I find it 99% entertaining. For those that find fault with it - what is actually bothering you? I'm not going to argue at all, or disagree with you. I just want to know what others are seeing that I'm not.
    • It's a choice and today, she made it more British than ever before. It's almost like she's making Pamela act like how she thinks she should be acting.
    • I cannot believe there is a whole storyline about the Abbott house renovation. They really are grasping over at Y&R. I don’t see a big difference in the set. It is refreshed. Why make a storyline out of it?
    • Cady is using what sounds like a transatlantic accent which is so odd these days. Sharon's hostility is entertaining already. That look she gave Anita when she opened the door was pure attitude.
    • Glad you agree about Chandler’s smirking. It’s the reason I criticize him. He hasn’t grown as an actor, unfortunately. I don’t fawn over him because of his looks. I wish he’d never appear until he loses his smirking style of acting.  Dee is doing a great job but yes, the story with the bandages isn’t the best. I get it- Drake wasn’t available and its a throwback to how John came to Salem, but it’s tough to get into the scenes when we know it’s not Drake under the bandages.
