This isn't exactly an unmasking per se but it was very odd. 

 

Early in (Y&R) Nick and Sharon's marriage, Nick came home tired and mistakenly had sex with Sharon's friend Grace.  I don't remember the resolution or if it came out during Cassie's custody trial.  However, I do recall that in order for the story to work the audience had to surmise that Nick regularly took Sharon from behind; which is/was shocking!  How else would Nick have not seen Grace's face while they were having sex?  It may be Sharon's unwritten secret to how she keeps attracting all the guys in Genoa City.

I think they also said that Nick was very drunk and wasn't Grace wearing Sharon's lingerie? I can't remember.

Days also did this during the same storyline. Unfortunately, it does not show the unmasking, but it's Roman (who's faked his death) in a Don mask.

It cracked me up when "Don" peeled off his mask and lost six inches in height.

I don't know if this goes here or in the wig discussion but I submit Warren from Search for Tomorrow as worst disguise ever.

 

Everyone remembers Michael Corbett's "killer" forehead on Y&R but what about this Amish/Hunk look from 1985's SFT?

Did he hide out in Amish country?

Soon later, a jail warden commented on how he was playing chess with Stefano and beat him, which prompted John to realize it wasn't really him. Ooh - another 1996 moment on DAYS:  Towards the end of the year when Peter Blake "died" and we later find out he's alive, but who's in the casket? A dead Daniel Scott with a Peter Blake mask.
