Once a character is established on one show, it's very rare for another show to use that name. eg Valerie was on Secret Storm 64-74, so no one else used that name in that time. The next Valerie was on Days starting in 76. If a name is used on another show, it's usually for a very different type of character eg Alice Horton matriach, Alice Matthews ingenue. Larissa is a name that hasn't popped up, but is somewhat known and would suit a teen girl character. Actually, as I mentioned above, Dark Shadows used Valerie Collins. That was in 1970-71 as I recollect. Angelique (played by Lara Parker) showed up at Collinwood in 1840 and told folks that her name was Valerie.

There was Mike Corbin (aka Michael Corinthos, Sr.), Michael Corinthos, Jr. (Sonny), Michael (Stone) Cates, Carly's son Michael. Years earlier, I think the Webbers (Rick & Ginny) adopted a kid named Mikey, too.

There was Charles Tyler and Charlie Brent on AMC, but I can't think of any other Charles or Charlie. Cole on Y&R was born Charles Victor Howard but Bill Bell obviously felt Charles was too old fashioned when the character returned. Chuck Tyler was actually Charles yes? Chuck on ATWT, Lisa's son was killed off and Snapper's son Chuckie on Y&R never returned as an adult. Wasn’t Jennifer Ryan’s husband on ATWT (Barbara’s dad) names Dr. Chuck Ryan, too? This would’ve been not long after Lisa’s son was killed.
July 30, 20187 yr Member I also remembered another Valerie that appeared in the 60s. Retro's reruns of The Doctors enlightened us to the fact that Mike Powers had another wife sometime around 1967. If I remember correctly, her name was Valerie. We, unfortunately, didn't see her but she was referenced in a storyline involving journalist Nathan Bunker in 1968.

Jennifer came on in 71 as a widow,I think - so Chuck might have been on years before. Chuckie was killed in 77 Edited July 30, 20187 yr by Paul Raven

April 4, 20196 yr Author Member I forgot about Nina, with Michelle Stafford in the news lately. Nina Reeves, GH Nina Webster, Y&R Nina Cortlandt, AMC
April 4, 20196 yr Member Thanks for reviving this topic. Nina hadn't really been used for a main character until Nina on AMC.
April 4, 20196 yr Member I guess Lucinda on ATWT was the only holder of that name. And it's safe to assume there was only one Barnabas, Quentin or Angelique on any soap?

Arlene Dahl played Lucinda on OLTL for a number of years in the 80's. Quentin was used on AW, GL and EON. Angelique on AMC. Barney yes, but Barnabas no.

SB had two - Lisa DiNapoli (Tawny Kitaen) and Lisa Fenimore (Bridgette Wilson). As a bonus, Eden's jewel thief alter ego was also named Lisa.
