Who would you cast on the soaps? For a certain role? Ill start

I am wondering if GH may actually may actually be bringing the webbers back with Liz's wedding

Here are my thoughts

Jeff Webber: Richard Thomas, Robert Newman, Mark Arnold, Laureance Lau

Liz's Mom: Ellen Dolan, Beth Chamberlin, Judi Evans, Kim Delaney

Sarah Webber: Martha Madison, Melissa Archer, Lauren Woodland, Melissa Clare Egan

I clutched my pearls when you began your sentence with, "Who would you..."

There are a lot of actors I miss seeing in daytime.  I'm not super confident that contract roles are in the cards for them, but if interested, I hope juicy, fun, short arc character opportunities come along. I'd love to see what Erika Slezak would do with another role.  On the other hand, I'd hate to see her or any of my favorites wasted on dreck.

You really wanna call this "The Casting Couch"?  Do you have any idea what the phrase REALLY means?  I wouldn't even GO there, especially while we're in the middle of the #MeToo / #TIMESUP movement.

By the way, good luck getting Kim Delaney back on daytime.

I'd like to see Colleen Zenk on Y&R. But the question is, as who? Maybe a long-lost Chancellor. I think she'd be aces in a business storyline -- push Victor's buttons, go head-to-head with Ashley.

She played so many layers of Barbara Ryan.

Other than my favourite actors I'm clearly biased over, she's my top choice for adding to the Y&R cast.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead, the actress Bobbi Jordan, who played Terri, but they would devote almost whole episodes to her singing in Terri's club on the show, and at least for me, that was reason to tune out.  She wasn't a bad singer, but, I think they probably used her singing to kill time.  Maybe they thought, "We're getting cancelled anyway."  I guess we'll never know for sure.

Whom would I cast to play the Webbers?

If it's only for a guest appearance or two, I'd at least ask Richard Dean Anderson to make a cameo as Jeff. If RDA said no...I'd accept Robert Newman. He's a decade too young, but hey, we could just say Jeff has been aging well. Mark Arnold might do, too. He was very charming on TEON, and could bring out Jeff's sweet side.

I dislike Ellen Dolan (too cold and aloof) and Chamberlin (too full of ticks and weird mannerisms). Judi Evans is too young. Kim Delaney's unreliability is well-known, so I would not go there. I'd try to get Susan Pratt back, and say that Anne Logan has been Jeff's wife all along.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
