"Murphy Brown" revival 2018

CBS keeps "Bull" and cancels "Murphy Brown."  If that doesn't tell you on which side that particular network stands in our current sociopolitical climate, I don't know what does.

I think once it didn't have big ratings and also didn't get any real conversation, the die was cast. 


The attempts to get headlines for Trump were truly embarrassing, but there were other elements worth watching. The old cast was as good as ever, and the new cast members were strong and fit in well. I was especially charmed by Jake McDorman, who worked perfectly with Candice Bergen, easily managed comedy and drama, and is a gorgeous man with real charisma. How he hasn't found the right vehicle yet, I don't know. 

 

I am still glad they brought it back because I have fonder memories of this season than I do of the long, slow decline of the original. And I think the episode where Frank was beaten had real things to say. I also liked their tribute to Jim, which was a tribute to the show itself.
