I don't know about anyone else here, but I've given Ron Carlivati two chances to impress me -- once, when he was writing OLTL; and again, when he was writing GH.  Both times, he failed.  Therefore, the only thing I'm giving that hack from now on, is hell.

Don't do that to me Khan.

I wouldn't have surprised me had Ron gone that route though.

IMO Susan is lying about Will not being alive.  Will is living with her and the Elvis lookalike.

I don't think Sonny will see Will until after the 10th.

You know, that's an interesting theory.   There was something I found to be not quite right about ED's pitch and line delivery, especially after reading her interview talking about how well she knows Susan and that Ron allowed her to tweak scripts.   But something seemed "off" about Susan.  Also, her motive for having Rolf bring Will back to life- because she wanted to kill him herself- doesn't really jive with Susan's character.  Kristen, yes, but not Susan- seems like if she were tweaking scripts, ED might have addressed that plot point with the writers.

I kind of hate that this theory is out there now though, because if it does turn out to be the case, it would have been a neat genuine surprise.   Oh well.  If it is true and they pull it off without any details leaking, I think Ron will have pulled off one of the better twists in recent memory on soaps.  (And THAT, Mal Young, would be how you do a "surprise!")

I'm not going to speculate. I don't think Will will think he's EJ (and by that I mean he wasn't implanted with EJ's memories, he could very well think his name is EJ thanks to Susan). He likely just has no memory and Susan is raising him as her own. I don't think it will be overly complicated.

I don't know what to do about DAYS though. Even though I think Ron's a good fit for the show, and I love having Sheri Anderson in the background there, the show needs some sort of overhaul. The complete lack of budget, most of the cast with low episode guarantees ... there's very little flow. There's a lack of momentum.

The episodes themselves aren't awful but when you have most of the cast standing around filling an episode guarantee there's a problem.

Not to mention a lot of characters with potential are incredibly boring. Marci Miller isn't a bad actress, IMO, but she lacks fire and it's like Abby is on ambien 24/7. Eli and Lamon Archey have potential but he's paired with Gabi who's now pointless and should be axed. JJ and Lani are cute but they're SO boring (I hope that changes with the upcoming story) so they need Abe to be grumpy pants and cause them conflict. Vanessa A. Williams is tragically underused. She looks amazing and can act. I love her. They need to use her.

Claire, Theo and Tripp are snoozeville. I hope the new Ciara has some fire and can act. I like Olivia Keegan and Lucas Adams but Claire and Tripp are zzzzzz at the moment.

Not to mention I don't understand the fascination this show has with Galen Gering and Rafe. Talk about the epitome of boring and useless.

I could go on but things need to change. There's no urgency. No energy, even in the Will search. The Will search became about EJ and Sami screeching and getting arrested.

Even though the Eve/Deimos story is stupid, Eve/Kassie has an energy about her that makes you want to watch her and she can sell anything (clearly), but then you have poor John Aniston resorted to spouting nasty one-liners (some are funny) and Maggie pressing her lips together.

Sigh.

The main problem is episode guarantees. When you have JJ comforting Eve and Lani walking in, follow up the next day where JJ and Lani talk about it. Followup the next day with Eve at Paige's gravesite. There's a lack of followup to things.

I also love having Lucas off the wagon but he doesn't need to be sloshed 24/7, it's getting tired.

And I know Ron wanted to 'fix' certain things, like Chabby, and re-pairing  Justin and Adrienne but a lot of it was rushed. Why weren't we shown Adrienne thinking about Justin in prison? Now in one episode Lucas and Adrienne are done (which I'm actually fine with them being kaput) and Adrienne and Justin are back together. It's sloppy. I get it, and I feel like we sat through years of an off-screen triangle between Lucas/Justin/Adrienne that a quick resolution is fine, just like quickly putting Chabby back together, and I'd rather not sit through more drama for them but it's rushed. I don't know. It's sloppy.

I agree. Something seemed off with Susan so I definitely think it's Kristen as Susan but maybe it really is Susan? Guess we'll see. But I wouldn't put it past Ron to have Susan pull off the wig and long blond locks fall out and we see it's Kristen but then have to wait until they bring Davidson back.

    • Contra Costa Times, 2 January 1977 Meanwhile CBS and "Search For Tomorrow" have not been idly twiddlng their creative thumbs This week and next pop singer Melissa Manchester will be making guest appearances on the show. Miss Manchester's stint was one of those feckless larks that came about at what turns out to be a most propitious time While filming the CBS musical special "With Love” last month in Hollywood Michael Nouri (Steve Kaslo on "Search") and his wife photographer Lynn Goldsmith passed a dressing room where Melissa was preparing for a nighttime TV guest shot. Lynn and Melissa are chums from way back when but as they were having a reunion Melissa whispered Into Lynn’s ear "You won’t believe who's standing right behind you in the doorway. It's Steve Kaslo I watch him every day". Lynn nonchalantly answered “I know he's my husband". The singer Immediately pumped Michael about future plot developments on the serial while he quizzed her on her music. They joked "Wouldn't It be a goof for Melissa to appear on ‘Search’ since Michael's character la an aspiring musician - composer? She could play herself an artist interested In the career of a fellow singer" Search" producer Mary-ElIs Bunim took the suggestion seriously and voila Melisa Manchester comes to Henderson USA and convinces Steve Kaslo to go on a concert lour with her. During her appearances Manchester will sing a number of songs written by Michael plus material from her latest album "Help Is On The Way”.

    • 5-19   A mixed bag. On one hand, it's a pretty good episode. Amanda's return is having immediate impact. And I'm here for everyone in Damian's orbit. On the other hand, it still had an air of stalling out this Dumas storyline which has immediately gotten annoying. Okay been annoying. Side-note...Sally is just wasting away being with Billy.   The Bad for Me:   We get more attention on Summer now that she's not on the canvas than we did when she was still on the canvas. It just seems like JG is butthurt that AL left. No one to blame, but himself.    I know we are not going to have Amanda against Billy/Sally. A waste of an actress. Speaking of Amanda, I don't think I will ever get used to the Giggly Heffa/Amanda friendship.   Why mention Jill and that she's retired...which sounds like we are NEVER getting Jess Walton back btw...and have Amanda tell Billy to make amends with her...if she's not coming back?   What was Good for Me:   Just Amanda's presence. Her meeting with Devon, Billy, and Nate. Her meeting with Giggly Heffa. Her meeting with Billy and Sally. And just the air of mystery that MM is giving to Amanda. That intrigues. And to be clear...is the dialogue saying that she knows who Dumas is because she has seen him face-to-face or do they video-talk or move through his assistant? I was unclear. But it would be VERY interesting if she has seen his face and know who it really is.    Awwww at Amy and Damian reaching a point where they are completely getting along. But I liked the scenes with them and Nate, Devon, and Lily. And Damian and Lily...I like of course.
    • I watched that cow Reva tell Trish she was dumping HB in utter disbelief. When even Trish is staring at you like you are an ungrateful bitch, all because of a guy you met six months (or so) ago, you are a 'ho. How Reva and Zimmer survived this clunker remains a mystery to me. Were she and Kyle really that well received? Or did the writers realize they'd gone too far and write Reva's suicide attempt to softly reboot the character? Nowadays, David definitely would've been crushing on Kyle and jealousy over being rejected by him after Kyle found the Lewises would've driven him to try and kill him. Rick/Mindy FTW. I think Michael and Krista really were sparkly.  I understand what they were trying to do with Kurt, but BLECH.

    • I think Telma and Jonelle are too old.  Tonya Pinkins is a good choice.
    • I must have been on a sabbatical from watching GL during much of 1985 because most of the episodes that have been uploaded recently were completely unknown to me, so I have a few thoughts: FINALLY got to see Locke Walls! I had heard of the character from story synopses and discussion on GL MBs, but I had never seen him before. I really liked Jeremy Slate as Locke. I know this was the height of the "Just Say No" 80s, but the hysteria over the "evils" of the music industry made me laugh out loud. Alex having a meltdown over the music industry destroying her baby boy, when he should be "safe" working at Spaulding was particularly funny. At this point in the story she thought her brother was dead in the jungles of San Rios because of his overreaching ambitions as the head of Spaulding. Also, she was a music groupie, falling for two musicians! The scenes with Locke's death were very poignant, and made me think how badly they shafted Beverlee. She was on the show for something like five years before they gave her a real romantic story. Every character close to her leaves or dies on her. No wonder they stuck her in the stupid Simon storyline, just so she would have someone to care about. I missed almost everything to do with the Claire pregnancy storyline. I think I started watching again after Michelle was born and she wanted to kill her baby. First thought: Good God, Maureen, you had the perfect chance to yeet Ed out of your life, why didn't you take it? Also, it seems strange how close Ed, Mo, Fletch, and Claire remained after the first shock of discovery. Especially since I mostly remember Claire turning into pratically a psycho later on. I'm not surprised now by some of the things Susan Pratt has said about what they did to the character. Were there different writers by then?  My thoughts exactly...but it was nice to see Babara Garrick as Charlotte. She was really good at playing this kind of character. YES, and WHY? Fletcher at least was a journalist, but why would anyone want Mo to host a radio show? The Reva/Kyle stuff: wasn't a fan of the latter part of their storyline and now not a fan of the earlier part of their storyline. And, ugh, Maeve. So boring. So dull. But I guess she had to be because no one could outshine you know who. David/Suzette/Jackson: WTF is it with that David character? Is he in love with Kyle? His whole schtick is Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, I hate Springfield, I want to go back to New York, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, why are we still in Springfield, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle. And poor Frances Fisher as Suzette! First she's begging David to pay attention to her and make love to her, but (his) thoughts of Kyle keep getting in the way of that. Then she becomes obsessed with Lujack, who is, what, 19 years old? Ew. I kind of like Michael Wilding Jr. (he comes across as a little raw in the beginning though he improves a bit over time) but the character existed for one reason: to be in love with Beth, who was also too young for him. But I guess that's because he and Suzette are Big Bad Music Industry People. So much time and investment in Lujack and Beth as a romantic couple. That music video storyline must have cost them a pretty penny to produce...still can't believe they killed him off just because the EP was mad VI wanted to try his luck in Hollywood.  Finally, the Rick/Roxy/Kurt/Mindy stuff: watching Rick and Mindy pretending to be a couple so they can stay at the boarding house and keep tabs on Kurt and Roxy's faux marriage made me think one thing: please dump Kurt and Roxy, they are boring AF. Rick and Mindy were adorable and funny together and should have been a long-term love story. I will die on this hill.
