I think many viewers are fed up with the annual announcements about saving DAYS, the new DAYS, the plan to return the show to its glory...er, days, etc.

 

By now, does ANYONE believe that the show can or will turn around and become a great show again? 

It's good something has remained unspoiled at least. 

 

I don't watch DAYS at this point but I wish them luck.

So RC says that he had to do some deep research since he had no history with DAYS, unlike GH and OLTL, like seeing some scenes online and reading about the history. NBC also gave him some old DAYS material. He was initially confused by the relationship between Julie and Hope. Also how he got lost in some storylines like Stefano sending Marlena through an armoire but then he saw how it connected with everyone on the canvas.

 

He talks about the three pitches he made. One being the Gabi/Chad/Abigail/Dario quadrangle, RC talks about how Chad/Abby have real history and that he's going to reunite them. The second pitch is Deimos' murder and that he changed the identity of his murderer and is going to stretch the story by making the killer someone who will shake up the canvas. He also says he's going to be using Morgan Fairchild as Anjelica by taking the character in a new direction.

 

RC says that he heard how killing Will was an unpopular choice and that he's looking to repair the damage made by it. Ron is teasing and being coy that it could be a doppelganger Chandler Massey is playing but he says this is the story that convinced Alison Sweeney to return and he will be playing her heavily.

 

Ron says that he also pitched a story for Eileen Davidson and that she might be playing more than one character. Ron says that he decided to wait several months before introducing anothee character.

 

He says that vets like Steve/Kayla, John/Marlena (will be featured in the first scene of his first episode) and Victor will be used a lot. Lucas will be getting a storyline. He has been relying on Fran Myers, Sheri Anderson and Ryan Quan with script continuity and history.

 

Ron also initially thought he was there to write the end of DAYS until news was heard that the show was renewed six weeks after he got the job. He says that he was brought onto GH for about six months to write the ending of that soap until it was renewed.

OK Ron,here's the deal.Doug married Julie's mother Addie and she got pregnant with Hope.She died and Doug married Julie. So Julie is Hope's step sister and stepmother.

 

Compared to some convoluted soap stories, that one is pretty basic.

Actually, Addie Horton Olson was both Julie's and Hope's biological mother, so Julie is Hope's HALF-sister and and stepmother. (I'm not trying to be snarky; just trying to clarify. Anyway, you are right: by soap standards, this is pretty basic stuff. Other daytime TV family trees are more tangled!)

I don't think even the most devoted viewers know what the hell his backstory is anymore...

So Doug married his own stepdaughter?! Lordy. How was that received by the characters and viewers at the time?
