DAYS Gets ANOTHER head writer change

I have three pages of goodness to read through but wanted to comment that while I have tons of issues with Ronald, I do think he's exactly the type of writer that would benefit from being at DAYS. And with Sheri and Ryan "creative consultants" I hope that actually means something. I seriously will take Ron over Higley a hundred times over.

As long as the show's still around ...

Ugh. This is one of the reasons I hate this man. A gay man can't even write for them. Thanks for killing the tiny bit of happiness I could have gotten out of this bizarre news.

But that requires him paying attention. He needs to get off that golf course first ... You give him far too much credit. He NEEDS to pay attention. He doesn't.

I think the problem at GH was twofold: Yeah, that was awful filler Ron should be justly criticized for, but in terms of airtime vs. quality it was also apparently all they could get onscreen. Frank was evidently quite risk-averse after the Kish ratings issues at OLTL, and he made the call back then.

So Frank's why all the gays got were Golden Girls marathons? LOL. Can't say that doesn't surprise me. Ron was writing for them, as bad as the triangle was .... I'll wait and see on this one because he hasn't given me a ton to be thrilled about with his writing for the gays. I'd rather they be off-screen and appear like they do now. You can almost tell with his writing what he didn't want to write (most of it) and that he more or less said "[!@#$%^&*] it" at some point.

Well, a massive fan petition did assist in getting her fired one of those times. Not to mention when the leading lady of the soap opera you just spent three years writing for speaks out against you when she speaks out against next to no one .... Higley puts the H in Hack and I for one am thrilled she's gone from DAYS. FINALLY! We should have been spared the last year and all of this mess. She never should have been brought back.

He never wrote for them. I don't get why anyone would think he would now.   His Kish stuff on OLTL was good but didn't last long and the wedding fiasco on OLTL with Dorian was awful/atrocious!

Good. I hope she keeps to her word.

That aside, they seriously need to dump all the footage in the can and start fresh. Cheap or not, they need to do whatever to regain fans and watching Dena's material all the way to August ain't gonna cut it.

While I don't like Ron, I do think he is vast improvement from Dena. I also think that DAYS might be up his speed. DAYS has always been a campier show than the rest (thanks to JER), so he might do OK. Glad that Sheri will be there to reign his goofy ass in if he gets too out of control.

That Dorian [!@#$%^&*], while not excusable, was never meant to be taken seriously. It should have been but I was never offended or hurt or bothered by it. He's very hit or miss though but I think DAYS is right up his alley so I'm desperate for my show to be entertaining again. It's got all the right materials, the right people, the script writers are good, but the overall direction of the show sucks. If it can maintain a good crew, it will be fine. One of Ron's problems is his poor script writers.

LOL sad but true

    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
    • There are the makings of good Emmy reels in these past couple of episodes, but the industry is still going to favor even the most mediocre stories and performances on the older soaps. And with the pressure from the government over race I can see the academy shutting out Beyond The Gates to avoid criticism from the administration and the far right media.
