Tim Patrick Murphy Interview by Bob Lardine : Bob Lardine : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Audio of a 1983 interview with Tim Patrick Murphy.

He mentions that he tested for Secrets of Midlands Heights, which he didn't get, but that got him Dallas.

Audrey Landers interview from 1981.

Barbara Stock shares memories of her time on Dallas, including that Ken Kercheval was the only cast member she knew outside of the show and that she did not actually realize she was being written out.

To be fair, I don't think she was written out as much as not being written for as they had to gear up for the final episode. I'd assume they might've had the option to use her again but they just didn't find the space.

Victoria

Is that recent? She looks good. I like her social media posts about her animals and things. Someone was trying to give her crap about her relationship with Andy Gibb and the drug issues. And she replied, “You didn’t know us. You didn’t know what was in our hearts. Tread lightly on broken dreams.” Classy way to shut someone down.

I always liked Victoria but it seems she was an outsider with the cast. The public often viewed her as frosty and a bit eccentric. She came up in a time when it was pretty much a man's world and I think she had to put on a tough exterior to succeed.

She built a comfortable lifestyle for herself with her business ventures (skincare etc..)

If J.R. wasn't busy with Ewing Oil, he'd be a heckuva soap recapper. He was SO gleeful at recapping Jenna-Bobby-Pam when the trio and Mark encountered each other at the Oil Baron's Ball.

That being said, Lucy, presumably Sue Ellen and maybe Ray should all know this story, or at least part of it. Lucy was definitely at Southfork during Jenna and Bobby's relationship, and I believe Sue Ellen was about to marry J.R. around the time Jenna jilted Bobby. (Ray might not have given a damn.)

Victoria Principal clearly stacked her Dallas coins real good. In the grand scheme of things, she was smart to walk away from Dallas when she did.

I couldn't agree more.

Yes, she was.  And when she left, it was about finished for me.

Despite the widespread perception that it was "JR's show", for some of us who'd watched from the beginning, it was the story of Bobby & Pam.  When she left and made it clear she wouldn't be back, what a fizzle for the rest of the series.

Dallas was effectively over Spring 1989 with Sue Ellen departure. The final two seasons were a waste of time and they only happened because CBS was in their third place prime time mess era.

In the final two seasons Dallas was regularly losing the time slot to Perfect Strangers and with the brief move to Friday 10 pm Dallas was regularly losing the time slot to 20/20. Also lets not forget the two time slot losses to Family Matters. Clearly a sign it was time to go.

Larry Hagman got less big and bad when Angela Lansbury savagely knocked him off the throne at CBS and he wasn't so big and bad anymore when he lost the time slot twice to Urkel.
