I'm mostly enjoying it. I think it has its flaws which have been amply noted recently and is taking its sweet time on moving some stuff, but there is a lot more character work that was necessary. It feels like clean, simple soap. Sometimes too simple, LOL. It needs to pick it up and there need to be less mistakes on certain points of order. I am over the Nick and Faith Family Hour and over seeing Victor cleaned up; they've done enough on him right now.

Oh please. Vee was just accusing me of disliking Hilary cause I had something to say about the terrible writing and felt it was doing a disservice to other characters while pushing her. Just stop!

I don't think you dislike Hilary. I do think you get so focused on worrying over gaming out what the show will someday, at some point, do to various characters including Devon and Hilary that certain characters become sort of demonized, and yes, I do think that's extended to both Hilary and Mariah depending on who you're worried about. This is Mariah's first major airtime in years and I don't think she's getting the Lauralee Bell treatment. And I don't think the show is crushing Devon under Hilary's wheels, either. And that's how your posts about all of these topics and characters come off sometimes.

Honestly, I think the damage that Charles Pratt, Jr. did to KSJ's once-respectable character is just too insurmountable.  IMO, he needs to go the way of the late Nathan Hastings.

I don't want Neil gone but dude needs a rest. Pratt made his character completely toxic around his family. I can't believe he's daring to talk sideways at Hilary after what he did. It's like Tad Martin moralizing after burying a man alive.

I find it hard to say I'm enjoying it but I'm not actively hating it which is how I felt the last few months that I watched the show. I've been watching for two months straight now which is pretty unbelievable considering I took a decade (?) long hiatus.

For the moment, though, Hilary is involved with Neil's adopted offspring, with whom Neil is still close.  Also, Y&R's African-American characters tend to remain inside their own story bubble.  So, although I DEFINITELY agree with you, Darn, that Neil needs his own story away from Hilary, I'm struggling with figuring out the right way to do that.

Well my idea of giving him something away from her also involved a semi-schism in his relationship with Devon. I'm talking years. But that'll never happen because of the black bubble.

Unfortunately Neil and KSJ aren't going anywhere because...quota, of which he is the longest lasting member because...coon.

For the most part, I'm here as well.

I'm ready for TPTB to get rid of the dead weight any day now...

Thanks I found Pratt's last six months extremely insufferable beyond belief that overall Sussman's first month here has been a huge breath of fresh air overall for myself in spite of its own flaws. I've enjoyed it and I don't think it's boring although it could be more exciting like the Fenmore's story having higher stakes loaded for it. I can understand someone comparing it JG's 2012-2013 tenure but I am still hopeful that Sussman doesn't drop the ball like JG did(or literally lose her sanity like he did).

I know many here are not fans of RA's Noah but it's been nice he's been brought back a lot recently for family scenes.

They have improved Sharon is some ways but when you compare how much time they have spent rehabbing Victor's character, Sharon is still a pariah, when Victor has committed far worse atrocities.

Oh, did anyone catch it?  It's official- what most of us knew (except for the folks in severer denial)--

that Victor and Chelsea are hiding the fact Christian and Connor are brothers!!  I suspect that this is a large part of why Chelsea is adamant in not getting intimate with Nick (platonic, my eye!) She doesn't want to risk getting too close and not being able to quell that nagging feeling that she ought to fess up.

Uh not the first time Chelsea and Victor mentioned Adam being the Daddy, last time was in Dec, that was the 1st time SSM wrote though, and the lie was already previewed as being an obstacle for Nick and Chelsea in 2017

I have been able to post much lately. However am I the only one on the net who is at least enjoying Y&R on a day to day basis other than the hokey Dylan/Sharon stuff and Gloria being on too much again.

I am liking it so far, minus the Dylan SL

I like Noah too. It's nice to see him. I just wish he wasn't in Faith's, the 9 year old lead heroine, shadow.

I feel like they keep wanting to pull the trigger on Noah taking over that damn bar and pushing Nick out. I don't know what the hold up is. Just do it.

Even if Noah does run the bar, they've got to start telling stories surrounding it to be relevant. Maybe start having artists perform there or something.

Tuesday's episode was the first one where I got through the entire show since the Xmas episode.  Sara's script was crisp.  Wednesday's show was a labor with all these extras, but Christian's script was tre gay.  Loved the highly campy Dynasty approach.  It was fun.  And they are finally making Dylan interesting in the last week of his run. Wow. Burton should be pissed that they saddled him with a horrid character all these years.  What a colossal waste.  Come on Sally, things need to pick up and get more serious and interesting.

Noah's mentioned Marisa a couple of times since SSM took over and since I don't think Pernas' pilots worked out I'm surprised the show didn't reach out to her again since its implied they're still dating.(Or maybe they did and she declined who knows?) It be nice to see the two of them again in a steady relationship talking about making their own business as opposed to Noah just being on the supportive front or being thrown in another black hole with a short term forgettable romance with Eden/Hunter/Adriana/Zoe/Porn star Courtney type of story.

I'm neutral on AAL's Faith but I do sense her Faith is written towards more lighthearted humor and laughs as opposed to CG's Cassie,  Darcy Rose Byrnes' Abby or Bryant Jones' Nate. Probably something more in common with Hunter Allan's Noah  I believe Mckenna Grace's Faith would have fared better but hey she's already on prime-time TV now. Come to think about it, too bad Brooke Marie Bridges decided against coming back as Lily as well.

I was surprised to see Sara Bibel coming to back to Y&R. I knew she wrote for Y&R for several years until Latham fired her and next thing you know she had that soap blog before going off to write stuff for more mainstream stuff for Zap2it and more recently IMDB. I remember posting a status update about new IMDB job and @DRW50 was like "Remember when she was going to be the savior of the industry?"

It's amazing how Dylan's become viable in his last two months under different writing. The show could have recast as opposed to this silly exit.

It doesn't have to be too relevant, it just has to be a locale. The bigger issue for me, and I thought SS, was that Nick is a fortysomething man slumming it there. He needs to be out of it, give it to his son.

Me too. I don't always like everything that's going on in every story and at times I get frustrated, but this is way beyond what I've come to expect from Y&R in recent years.

I'm watching and waiting to see if they get rid of some characters and stories that need to end, but I'm also willing to let them do it their own way.

Having said all of that, WTF is their obsession with Faith? Enough already.

ETA: Happy to see they've got a new scriptwriter on board. That's been an ongoing and terrible problem.

Ah, I see. My point was about Noah having story. Being more viable. Different perspectives.

I think the hold-up is that Nick, as played by Joshua Morrow, does not come across as a mature man in his early forties who can be repositioned in a more age-appropriate arena.  TPTB refuse to acknowledge the fact that Nick has outgrown that perennial frat boy and needs a recast.

I think Marisa is out for good. She's another regime's character that I didn't think took off at all (could be wrong about that). Sally could just create her own character to pair Noah with and fare much better.
