It's bad enough that this character was named "Mamie" that has an unfortunate ring of Mammy to it. Why couldn't Mamie visit her family first? What "stuff" would she be dropping off though? It's been years! That seems more than a bit contrived. There are many things from Y&R's past history that I'd love to revisit, this idea with Mamie that's being conjured isn't one of them, TBH. It seems stuck in a time warp that I'd rather not return to. Thank you. you expressed my sentiments perfectly. Leave Mamie serving Abbots in the past.
December 4, 20169 yr Member I would love to see Mamie return (and for the record I'd have Mamie have breakfast with the Abbotts) - it's just a shame that LML killed off John because he SHOULD have ended up marrying Mamie in the end. Veronica Redd was fantastic with Jess Walton and Jerry Douglas.
December 4, 20169 yr Member If John were still living then Mamie having breakfast with abbots right off before going to live with her own family would be nice. I'd see it as the start of a grande late in life romance. Edited December 4, 20169 yr by ajsp35801
December 4, 20169 yr Member Beth Maitland's hair and wardrobe look A LOT more flattering than her recent guest stints.
December 4, 20169 yr Member Promising, but I'm sick to death of Eric Braeden and I've been watching since the mid 70's...skipped the late 90's to 2000's (late) other than just checking in. But the character of Victor cannot be redeemed....don't care what the new writers do with him...the only thing they can do is put him in a closet for 2 years and trot him out at that point and maybe I'll consider something about thinking about him. Damage has been done.

December 4, 20169 yr Member Also liked the toast with Paul and Lauren...a nod to history. When is the last time Lauren and Paul had a scene together?
December 4, 20169 yr Member I can't remember. most of the long standing relationships had stopped being played. I think Lauren will probably benefit the most during Sally's tenure.

My fear is that the audience doesn't have the patience or appetite for Sally and Kay's kind of story telling Edited December 4, 20169 yr by ajsp35801

I'm fairly certain a full-on return to classic Y&R style and pacing would be too much, but I don't think that's what we're getting. Besides, the show still does pretty long stories and the Y&R audience has shown that it's loyal and that it's there when the writing is. I hope that will be the case too, but I'll try not to be too negative about it. Even if the ratings suck, I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts, if it's good.
