Dominic West isn't the best physical casting for the part, but the man certainly knows how to have an affair (allegedly!) so his method acting will come in handy.

Elizabeth Debicki is excellent physical casting, just as Emma Corrin was. No production has ever succeeded in casting Diana, but The Crown has managed it.

The Crown swept the Emmys, with wins for Drama Series, Writing, Directing, Olivia Colman (Lead Actress), Josh O’Connor (Actor), Gillian Anderson (Supporting Actress), and Tobias Menzies (Supporting Actor).

Menzies, who was absent from the Emmy ceremony, won over the late Michael K. Williams, who had been nominated for Lovecraft Country and actually had been the favorite to win. Menzies accepted the Emmy and offered this tribute to MKW via Twitter:

It will be interesting in seeing how this ends up comparing with Kristen Stewart, who has been getting early raves.

West is a very charismatic performer, so I wonder how that will translate to Charles.

I saw some comments that Emmy voting ended before MKW passed. If true that explains the result a  little more.

From what I saw of Menzies' work, he was excellent as Philip, and I don't think he had ever won an Emmy before.

Elizabeth Debicki is a brilliant actress. It would be hard to top her, though I'm sure Kristen Stewart does a great job.

Netflix is talking about doing a Crown prequel series that would start with the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 and lead up to where The Crown started, with Elizabeth II’s wedding.

A very interesting time period for the BRF, that's for sure. If Peter Morgan is writing it, I will definitely be tuning in.

And so it begins...

Season 1, Episode 1.

Yes, my UK knowledge is minimal so this should be enlightening.

Thank you. Mercury Retrograde apparently took out my player. For now. But I know I will have questions.
