OK, I misunderstood. When Phyllis said I'm going to tell him tomorrow, I thought she meant the whole story.  It's still odd. She was planning to be with Billy, so unless Jack has lost a lot of IQ points he was going to figure it out.

Have you seen the ratings? Look at the 18-49 demo. This demo is sinking faster than the TItanic!  Senior citizens being the ONLY ones watching is why there are only 4 soaps left on the air.  Sheesh why do you think millions of dollars are spent doing this research and Neilson ratings every year?

And I'm a Gay Male who just bought $3000 of useless [!@#$%^&*] to send to friends as gifts.  I'm 46.  EXACTLY Einstein.  The only people who are watching are OLD.  The young people are running through cemetaries trying to find a Pokemon reward on their CELL PHONES.  There isn't ANYTHING you can do to make them WATCH.

Unfortunately because we don't see CBS app or website numbers, it's hard to tell if the demo numbers are made up through other platforms. The fact that Y&R consistently adds  an additional 10% daily through a relatively unknown cable station, leads me to believe the numbers are pretty solid.

And unlike other actors, JW hardly comes across as old in any manner. Her energy and performances transcend age.

Gunning for JW is not okay.  Especially with Jeanne Cooper gone and the show in dire need of a strong, authoritative, matriarchal voice with ties to the show's very roots.  Take that [!@#$%^&*] somewhere else, girl.

Jess Walton's presence has really glued me to the show and her liners have really made me smile!  Jill/JW, in a world were daytime serials didn't screw up, would have been the archetype for the '21st Century' matriarch.  She is of the age as the traditional one but she could still be in GREAT story and stir trouble.  She proves that you don't have to reduce a character stamina to 'Grandma Kate' to be the reach out as the 'Voice of Reason'.

Here is my take on the show though.

Firstly, I'm not saying that the show is good as it was prior to 2006, IMO the show was solid until then but could have been better, but it's holding my attention.  Perhaps it's because I'm thinking too much on what I'd do?

Production:

The sound still is odd to me.  It seems like the receivers from the mics aren't picking up on bass notes.  Makes me want to pump up the Db's on the left bands and the mid-bands (Sound Tech talk LOL).

The scene length, however, is pretty decent as of late and if I'm not mistaken the directing has improved--at least the style is on-par.

Substance:

The thing that stood out to me in the old days was that virtually every scene seemed to be set to 'Nadias Theme'.  Music, sounds, affect writers and if I were assigned to write this I would have it played softly as I crafted each scene to give it the feel.  That is one thing that is missing.

Once they fix all of that I think they would have a foundation for improving the overall show.

+1

Jess Walton's return has been the best thing to happen to this f-cking show in a decade. It's also the first time in a decade that Jill Abbott (f-ck that Fenmore Atkinson crap) has been written like Jill Abbott. Janice Ferri Esser's hands have been all over those scripts and it shows.

Made my way to July 12th. Starting around the fourth, I can see marked difference in the production values-- the stories, still crappy, but at least Al is peeling off the blue paint at the mansion. I had hoped JT would be much better as Billy, but I mostly blame that on the UpChuck writing. Phyllis is an adult, not a thirteen year old girl with a crush. I wouldn't want to run home to Jack Abbott either, but GMAFB...

    • As well as insulting our host, being rude to members who correct you, and having an inflated sense of duty.
    • Yes, that is why. I mean, not last minute but it was not what Shapiro originally wanted. First, she tried to buy the show. Then she tried to buy the character. Meanwhile several other companies also tried to buy the show.
    • I thought I had stopped & then I saw this post from you. To be clear I said I was wrong. I have not made an attempt at any backpedaling. There is literally no place to back pedal to. I did 3 things. I deleted. i apologized. I said I was wrong, egregiously so.
    • I think bringing Dano back to OLTL as her original character Gretel/Rae was a last minute thing because P & G wouldn't let ABC use the Felicia character. So even though she had ties to OLTL from back in the day, she just didn't fit into the OLTL of the late 90s/early 00s.. nor did she really fit into the other soaps at ABC either.
    • I don't think they were the biggest factor, but I do think there's a specific style to Dano's work that wasn't helped by how pointless her character often felt (and later on the various writers clearly saw the character as a joke).
    • I think Evie came in mid 1976 after Rita broke up with Tim because she realized she was leading him on.  And Evie became upset with Rita because she didn't tell her that she had previously dated Tim before she came to town.
    • Please stop, you were wrong, and you know it, now you're trying to back pedal. You even got called out by the DAYS actors/actresses on Twitter for that sh*t. It was disgusting and vile and IMO the family should have taken action against you It was clear the general public did not know about his illness and it was NOT your place to "spill the beans" just because you run a Facebook group, period! TBH IMO @Errol should have banned you ages ago Donna
    • Who went bowling? JFP & Anna? Is there any more to this?
    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
