November 3, 201510 yr Member It's not strange that Sharon is still getting pregnant. Diane, Ashley, Nikki, Lauren & Jill all had pregnancy stories in their mid-late 40's.
November 3, 201510 yr Member I agree with you, not only do mid to late 40's women routinely get pregnant on soaps, they do it without medical intervention! And they always have perfectly healthy babies! It's truly amazing. lol
November 3, 201510 yr Member Realism on a show where everyone has a doppelganger? (lol) THIS! Some fans need to make a decision. Either soaps are going to reflect reality or they don't. Arguing one day that 'it's only a soap' and then the next demanding that storylines are realistic seems silly to me. I know there are some good classic soap stories that stretched limits but there've been tons of crappers that have just been bizarre, especially for a show like Y&R that had historically hewed closer to a realistic degree of storytelling until the last 8-9 years. But which is more realistic: a woman in her mid to late 40s having a baby or a person coming back from an open casket funeral death for the 3rd time?
November 3, 201510 yr Member Good points about reality. I guess we just go with the flow because it's a soap.
November 3, 201510 yr Member Getting rid of Sage won't make the writers like Sharon any better. I have no doubt a new character will be brought in. The fact that Sharon is adored no matter what the writers do to her, makes it very easy for the writers to throw her under the bus because there is little down side. Remember that old expression you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink? Well you can force the writers to keep Sharon on the show, but you can't force them to write good stories for her. So go ahead and drive Sage off the show. There are plenty of out of work soap actors out there. I would love to see gorgeous Bree Williamson at Y&R. I don't see why people keep associating people wanting better writing for Sharon and wanting Sage gone. It's two different things. I keep saying that most Sharon fans don't even want her with Nick (or any Newman) anymore. They want her far away from that entire clan. The mass want Sage gone b/c she's a f-cking bore. She's just like any other boring interloper that has been on this show in awhile. She brings nothing to the table at all. What mass wants Sage gone? GMAB, there is no difference for A LOT of the Haters, some of the Sage bashing îs funny from the Sharon fans on various MBs. MB hate does not measure a characters unpopularity ie Phiĉk or Lane, Summer, et., etc, that's just common sense. Sharon has become the new old Phyllis of the show crazy and volatile LOL, she has been like this close to a decade, it is what it is. Edited November 3, 201510 yr by rlj
November 3, 201510 yr Member I agree it's so obvious where 95% of the Sage hate is coming from, a blind person could see it. I remember when Phick hooked up, Phyllis got the exact same treatment. Nick was suppose to overlook what Sharon did to him and his daughter. Um she was sick so she gets a pass. To some folks Sharon is the Goddess who must be worshipped. Unfortuantely most head writers and HW's aren't feeling this deep love for Sharon.
November 3, 201510 yr Member But they are, they keep writing for her (even if it's crappy material). Sharon wouldn't be such a sustainable presence on the show if someone there didn't really believe in the character.
November 3, 201510 yr Member Again not many here want Sharon with Dicholas. So Sag hate has nothing to do with Sharon. Most dislike Sag because KS has too many tics and lacks substance as a c-story character like Esther, who pops up once in a while, KS would fit. Thrusting her scenery chomping as to the forefront brings all of her flaws front and center. Ushering in Adam, they should have kept her on the outskirts of story. Hamming it up while the characters prop the crap out of her is annoying....

November 3, 201510 yr Member She should have remained a supporting character that schemes and manipulates with Adam, and that's it. After the Adam reveal (or earlier), she should have been gone. Sage is not a great character and there isn't enough gravitas from the actress to warrant her being in major, frontburning story. As soon as they started bringing her into Nick's orbit, I knew we were in deep trouble.
November 3, 201510 yr Member I liked Sage/KSu when she was just recurring. KSu is better in SMALL doses Edited November 3, 201510 yr by dragonflies
