I'm not excited about all these new faces, but at least they're the children of characters we love, and they themselves are characters we've seen as kids for years (albeit all new faces now).

 

I mean, this is basically exactly what they did in 1999 with Belle (SORAS in July), Shawn (SORAS around September/October), Phillip (SORAS around September/October), new girl Mimi (Belle's sidekick with no initial storyline), and then new girl Chloe (daughter of established characters, introduced in December).

 

I just hope they aren't thrust into their own orbit right away.

I have a good feeling about this, too. No soap really has really had a real "teen scene" for a while.

It's a nice crop of kids and a solid foundation. But knowing DAYS, they'll squander it, and not one of those boys will go both ways. (Lookin' at you, Chase.)

well, DAYS could be in desperation/panic mode, and Chandler's gay SL was surprisingly well-received... maybe, Chase will be in the closet and have an affair w/ Paul since he's not familial-tied to the main cast? 

Good set...though Chase's hair is stuck in 2009.

Considering how this cast would not really work using the same sort of boy + girl + jealous other girl + sidekick male (or female) friend + friend of main boy template, just judging by how all these characters are somewhat main considering their pedigree... what should we expect? I'm not really here for Ciara being neoSami, and Claire being neoCarrie while Chase plays Austin... I'm hoping for something INVENTIVE, here? Please? There are so many teenage dramas going that DAYS could lift from... I want characters w/ DEPTH, please. u_u

Not that I trust anything from his mouth, but if you read the article Corday stated the teens wouldn't be just goody goodies and they'll be flawed. I already expect Claire and Ciara to fight over a man. It's going to happen. Theo will be in love with Ciara who will be in love with Chase who will be in love with Claire. I'm already calling it. Not sure where Joey fits in. He can't be with Claire (Bo's granddaughter while Joey is his nephew through Kayla -- obviously, lol) or Ciara (Bo's daughter). So I guess someone else not cast for him. Or two of the guys are gay, which we have no indications of.

To me, DAYS has done a great job with their teens over the years, mostly. They all had significant amounts of story and time with their parents. I expect the same. JJ's STILL in his mother's orbit.

Good luck with throwing in a lot of SORAS'd newbies and making that work. 

 

It will work (unless all the actors suck). The audience will care about them, even more so if the writing is there. These aren't unconnected teens. Chase sort of is but not really. DAYS is actually able to do this pretty well with their teens, TBH. I'm not worried and am looking forward to all of them. I love their looks and that Corday says they will all be flawed.

THIS is how you establish new characters. We'll see if it works.

I don't get why they have to throw everyone onto the scene at once. Theo and Ciara could've sufficed for the first few weeks and then they could build the teen scene from there. 

 

they are establishing them separately. Did you even read the article? Joey starts this month, Ciara and Chase not until the very end of October with Theo right behind and then Claire not until the very end of November, and they're bringing back Shawn and Belle on top of her. They're all debuting months apart from each other. Ciara and Chase two months after Joey. I mean, how much more spread out do you want it? You can't really age one of Ciara, Chase and Theo without the others, etc. They're all around the same age anyway so it makes sense they're now all teens.

Yeah, I just saw the pic in TV Guide and I have to admit...I LOVE IT. I was a regular viewer around the Last Blast Teens and this makes me super excited to see them. Especially flawed as well as being attached to faves.

I hope Theo has better luck in the young crowd than the two Camerons did...

LOL true that. Let's hope all of them can act and we get 5 Casey Moss's and not 5 True O'Briens.

TBH, with the guy playing Kyle (the drug dealer) being one of the best looking younger guys on the show + best younger actor currently ON the show; why don't DAYS recast Sonny w/ him? And then go ahead and recast Will with the guy that plays Derrick... all win.

That's because soaps don't know how to write for young people and most of the stories they do put in teen scenes could/should be done with an older set.
