Would I call it a sex crime? I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know. Frankly, however, what I would or would not call it means less than 2 shits because I'm not the one who was targeted here, so I should keep my mouth shut. But some people make it a habit to tell others how they should react to actions carried out against them.

What is Jennifer Lawrence A SIX YEAR OLD!!!

I agree that she was violated. Yeah And.........

What world is she living in? She didn't damn well know that this could happen. HELLO!!!

This is why I don't do Facebook. This is why I don't do Twitter. This is why I don't do nude photos. I don't need my business out there.

I am nobody but I am not going to take nude photos of myself and send it to a long distant boyfriend. And believe me I have had long distant relationships. He'll see me naked when he sees me....thank you very much. And what if it weren't a hacker. What if the boyfriend decides to leak the photos after they have broken up because he want to be hurtful. She didn't think of that. Please!!

At least Miley Cyrus and Rihanna, would have played along with it instead of being devastated.

Let it be a lesson.....if you don't want your naked body out in the web world, then DON'T put it out there.

I might have felt bad for her if she hadn't referred to it as a "sex crime." To me, that's offensive.

Ah yes. The "just lie back and enjoy it" philosophy. That's a classic that never seems to go out of style. Cool girls (TM Gone Girl) like Miley and Rhianna would excuse their violation (because they've consented to nude photos in the past and therefore couldn't possibly object to having private photos shared without they're permission because once you consent to something in one situation you aren't ever permitted to refuse it in another) and Lawrence is a bitch and a six year old for being angry.

I saw this reasoning in comments about a gynecologist who took pictures of his unconscious patients before procedures. After all, they consented to having this doctor look at their genitals so why should they be angry when he took pictures and shared them? Showing your body to one person means that you are obviously willing to show it to anyone.

To me the actual crime is a lot more offensive than Lawrence's clumsy description of it.

It's so easy to hate on Lawrence because she's been put in front of the firing squad. Yet the people who did this are still sitting at home completely anonymous behind their computers looking for new victims. They still enjoy their privacy while people they exploited are called names and blamed.

No comparison. JL took photos and they were subsequently stolen from her. This "violation" would be the same as a violation of having your purse stolen and someone has your wallet with your cards, social sec card, ID with your address. All of your info in the hands of a stranger. Now, a stranger just got their hands on Jennifer's "info". A sex crime? REEEEEEdiculous and I'd love to see this little twat sit her ass next to victims of assault/rape and tell them..."like, I totally get it. I was violated too. Someone stole my nudies and posted them on the internet". Twat! Go away!

Going back to not giving a sh!t! Later :)

A few of these opinions are the result of the patriarchal, woman hating society we live in but I'm sleep tho.

I don't agree. I see a huge deal being made because a celebrity had nude photos stolen and wants to equate it to a sex crime, which is the bigger tragedy, IMHO!

I don't think it's a tragedy. I don't even like her and find her to be the most overrated thing in Hollywood right now. I just think these men hacking into people's personal stuff and exploiting is sick. Taking that much time out if your day to find some nude pics. And of course her and a few of the others were slut shamed but that's par for the course in America.

Stealing from people is one of the most awful things to me. Some folks wake up just to see how they can victimize someone else. It's reprehensible!

I couldnt disagree more. Its not like someone "stole" her images for their own benefit. Your scenario would only be comparable if said thief had put that person's social security number, bank accounts, etc... on the internet for all to see. THAT is the violation. It wouldnt be as serious had it been confined to one person's view

I'm not talking about what was done with the stolen property. I'm talking about the actual violation itself. What JL and others went thru was theft and should NOT be labeled a sex crime because what was stolen just happened to be nudies!

Again, Lawrence's (admittedly clumsy) description of what happened is irrelevant. She didn't do anything wrong. The people who stole her photos did. Those are the "twats" who should "go away." Those are the ones who should be labeled bitches, attention seekers and six year olds. She didn't put her business out there for the public to consume. Some pervert who decided she isn't human did and that person is being treated like their behavior is normal while Lawrence is being told to shut up.

We've turned into a culture where we accept predation as the norm and blame normal people for not expecting to be preyed upon. This is all just another version of "If you don't want to be raped then don't wear short skirts" mindset. Normal people are expected to turn themselves into prisoners who sit around the house in a burqua and showering in the dark and having only procreative sex because we've decided that people are no longer entitled to privacy.

Look at all this energy and attention directed at telling Lawrence to shut up and none of it directed towards the idea that we should be hunting down these hackers and pulling them out of the shadows. What are their names? What information do they have online? What other crimes are they committing? You think these people aren't also climbing through other people's clouds and selling pictures of kids to porn site? Or stealing and selling other people's banking information? Or targeting elderly people with those "Your son/daughter is in the hospital please give us your credit card number" scams? The people who do this don't stop at celebrities and they don't do it because Jennifer Lawrence is a strumpet who sent pictures to her boyfriend. They do it because that's what predators do.

Today it's nudie pics of J-Law and Matt Smith. Tomorrow it will be someone hacking into medical records and outing someone - famous or not - who's had an abortion or drug rehab or is in the closet or engaged in some other form of behavior that some people find offensive and when that happens the victim blamers will rev up all over and play right into the hands of these hackers by making excuses for the predators and attacking the prey. We've already seen it with Emma Watson. When someone can get threatened with release of personal information for making a UN speech in favor of educating girls around the world, it becomes pretty obvious what kind of people we're dealing with.

I don't recall anyone saying JL did something wrong. She did NOTHING wrong, but forgive me for not caring. When we get to hacking into medical records, you have my full attention [but no one will care if a celebrity is not attached]. Celebrity nudies? Still don't care.

I once sent a pic of my rack to a guy I was dating, so there is no way I could say JL committed a sin. I just don't care and this huge deal? I find it absolutely ridiculous! Labeling it a sex crime? Even more ridiculous!

And I still want the twat to go away!
