September 14, 201411 yr Author Member I put Howie's behaviour down to the death of Joan Rivers. Howie was incredibly close to her (she booked him for his debut on the Tonight Show when she was guest hosting after Johnny Carson's producers refused to let him on) and felt that he owed his career to her. I think Howie is not in a good place, mentally, and is sniping away. Thanks. That certainly adds a different context to it and I didn't know about their connection. It did come very close to getting bad, though. What was he snipy about? He was great at the interview (in which he talked about not liking mimes) but then Meredith and he played a game called "slime the mime" where they guessed what the mime was doing and whoever won would get to slime the mime at the end. Howie not only slimed the man straight away, stunning audience and Meredith, but he kept making fun of the man & his profession in a way that came *this* close to being downright rude and offensive. He was literally just humiliating the mime and his job in front of everyone. Edited September 14, 201411 yr by YRBB
September 14, 201411 yr Member I don't get why they would give Howie who has OCD a segment with sliming even if stayed clean. Wouldn't that be a huge trigger? Edited September 14, 201411 yr by ~bl~
September 26, 201411 yr Author Member Huh? Meredith's segments with Sofia Vergara & Joy Behar were hilarious. The show is doing so well.
September 26, 201411 yr Member YRBB, bl was saying that since Howie suffers from OCD, it seems odd that they would give him a segment involving getting so dirty. However, his OCD may not be about being clean, it mag manifest itself in other ways.
September 26, 201411 yr Author Member Thanks. I was confused because I explained what happened above & it had nothing to do with Howie getting dirty whatsoever. It was a bucket of green goo which Howie chose to use against the man doing his job just because, as he made very clear, he hates mimes.
October 17, 201411 yr Member Just surprised @Susan_Lucci on @MeredithShow for a "Soap Opera Showdown" between Susan and Meredith! Such fun! Tune in on DECEMBER 2nd! — Walt Willey (@wwilley) October 17, 2014
October 17, 201411 yr Member Spoiler alert, Walt! I love Meredith but I can't get into her show. I will watch for Susan though, I hope I remember.
November 3, 201411 yr Author Member Two months in and she's been renewed! Yay! Really enjoying the show!
May 29, 201510 yr Member I was reading this (somewhat misogynist but not wholly inaccurate) article about the vacuousness of daytime and saw that there's a good chance her show will be canned. I thought it was doing well. It just makes me wonder again if the days of talk shows are past, and the industry won't see it. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/05/28/does-daytime-tv-have-to-be-a-talk-obsessed-hell.html
May 29, 201510 yr Author Member I've liked her show from day one. I can't believe they would actually seriously consider canceling it.
June 3, 201510 yr Member I agree. I like her show. They're way too quick to cancel a talk show. They need time to work out kinks and find an audience. I didn't think it was doing terrible. Just like Arsenio at night ... give it some time. Honestly I wish she would have just come back to The View instead of her own talk show. Edited June 3, 201510 yr by KMan101
