Those are all pretty bad. I do make Jell-o salad all the time, but it's a GOOD one, orange Jello, shredded carrots, mandarin orange sections, and crushed pineapple. Or I also do mixed fruit in strawberry Jell-o, strawberries, grapes, bananas, apples, and pecans.

The HOURS I've wasted reading and subsequently dying of laughter, mostly at the snarky commentary, is impossible to count at this point. Updates are rare, but so worth the read. So many of these monstrosities involve Jell-O, it's somewhat frightening.

Posted that Jello thing on my page and my Aunt wrote this: "Reminds me of my school days and the dreaded "congealed salad", basically made up of all the leftovers in the kitchen. KLIF disc jockeys Charlie and Harrigan used to make fun of it when they would read the menu for the school."

A lot of those are in a substance known as "Aspic". Aspic is a gelatin made from some sort of stock or broth. The most gross recipe picture I ran across was creamed fish in aspic.

Fruit in Jell-O is good and your recipes sounds tasty. It's when people go crazy encasing weird things like fish, boiled eggs etc... in gelatin or aspic that is sickening.

It does sound disgusting. I think of it like that gelatin slime that's in canned meats like Treat, Spam, Potted Meat etc......It seems like the 50's and 60's was the hey day of the aspic/gelatin creations. I guess people wanted brag that they had a fridge and could do creative things with gelatin.

Now I'm craving a paper picnic plate full of cold Watergate salad and ambrosia to erase the imaginary taste of these gag-inducing monstrosities.
