ALEX SHIPP JOINS "DAYS" CAST IN RECURRING ROLE OF MARY BETH...

shippalex.jpg

Alex Shipp joins the cast of "Days" this week in the recurring role of Mary Beth. As per last year's casting call, the character of Mary Beth is a "gorgeous 17 to 18-year-old African American, Hispanic or East Indian teen...a sweet, smart, innocent high school senior.” Shipp appeared as KT Rush on the Nickelodeon series "House of Anubis" last year. She has guest starred on "Switched at Birth", "Victorious" and "Awkward" and appeared in the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel." Alexandra Shipp, 22, was born on July 16, 1991 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Here's a reel of her roles...

Principal Guest Stars: Week of Monday 3/10/14-Friday 3/14/14

This is the first time "Days" has used a choreographer since April 2013. Christy Buss choreographs this week's dance.

Also, Justin Gaston is now listed as Ben Rogers in the credits for the first time. He had only been listed as Ben, even though he was seen writing Ben Rogers on screen. I had not added Rogers as his last name, since it might have been a fake last name, but since the credits now list him as Ben Rogers, I've added it to my site.

John Aniston - Victor Kiriakis
Judi Evans - Adrienne Kiriakis
Aaron & Griffin Kunitz - Johnny DiMera
Lauren Boles - Ciara Brady
Aloma Wright - Maxine Landis
Kevin Riggin - Rory
Allison Paige - Bev
Michael Benyaer - Dr. Jakub Chyka
Ian Patrick Williams - Percy Ruggles
Mark Collier - Liam Frazer
Connor Kalopsis - Chase Jennings
Miles Gaston Villanueva - Russ
Eamon Hunt - Dr. Mattingly (new)
Alex Shipp - Mary Beth (new)
Christy Buss - Choreographer (new)
Terry James - Stunt Coordinator

Why? Just why? I've said this before and I'll say it again, if DAYS is not going write for minorities (other than Hispanics) properly then don't cast us. I'm over Black, Asian, Native American, etc. characters being window draping so certain organizations won't call them out for their lack of diversity; however, they have good intentions and story for this character then I am all for it.

Yawn. I don't want to see all these new characters. Bring back Max, Melanie, Chelsea, Philip, Shawn, Belle... at this point I don't care if they have to get new actors/actresses to play them. THAT'S the next generation of Salem. Then build your newbies off of that.

That said, congratulations to Alex and I hope Days does write for her.

Lexie's daughter she forgot she gave birth to.

Now THIS I could get behind, however! biggrin.png

My Days viewing has been spotty, but the last time I saw Salem High was like... early 2000s.

I thought the name looked familiar when I saw the title. So I guess House of Anubis is really done then. I know Alex won't get written for. This is DAYS.

They don't even really write for the Hispanics either. All of the Hernandez family sans Gabby were played by non latinos.
