Didnt they turn nick fallon into an homophobic prick cuz he had been raped in jail?

And i wish they had had caroline uncomfortable with her great-grandson being gay. Not an all out homophobic pearl clutching shrew but since she is a really religious person it would have been an interesting beat to play. After a while and some counseling with the local priest (not eric but some older one) she could have been encourage to love will no matter what and let God decide ultimately. I think a good message could have come out out of it.

I usually hate PSA like story but this one would have worked for me.

I get that its realistic on some level that someone wouldnt be comfortable with their son being gay but we already sit through this with Bobbie so i see no point in repeating it with a morally bankrupted mobster with no position to judge.

But after the tristan rogers going to yr debacle you would think the runner ups would be more inclined to secure the characters they intend to be carrying storylines for a while.

And when you consider the number of contract players sitting iddly or with minimal screentime i would rather they put the likes of felix and mac (who i adore but hasnt had a story since 1997) on recurring and at least put a promissing character from a legacy family on contract.

I myself hate to cast suspicion about rc's agenda being to make OLTL lite cuz i think it minimizes the impact of a well thought out debate on whether the show is fun to watch or not but this agenda is becoming more and more obvious.

if row, me and ka all left tomorow i would be in heaven. There is absulutly no reason for them having so much screen time. And a contract of top of that when characters with long history with the show dont.

hot. pointless. mess.

no one is gonna ship ANY of these pairings, except for a halfhearted 'eh, whatever...' pairing of Brad/Felix.

i HOPE this is just GH using Brad/Felix to introduce/get the audience used to Lucas in preparation for Lucas' REAL love interest/romance somewhere down the road... otherwise this is just business as usual when it comes to Disney/ABC and gay peeps in daytime. sleep.png

I agree. It would've made perfect sense for devout Catholic Caroline to show some opposition. And it would be doubly delicious that the one opposer in Salem is the semi-senile Caroloon; making the anti-gays look even sillier.

I know I'm the minority in this, but I like Felix. I think he's adorable. It's Brad that I find so skeevy. Why TWO men would be panting over him is beyond me.

I figure the alzheimer story would have played a little later and while i am in no way an anti-gay advocate i think making caroline's uneasiness with will a result of alzheimer would have been awful.

I do not respect their view and wont tolerate people putting down any gay storylines the way they do but i think the side effect would be that the minority of the gay haters that could be persuaded to change their mind would only harden their position under those circumstances.

I only care about seeing characters object to someone being gay if it leads to more story. On DAYS, it might have worked, because Will's only story was making sex faces at EJ and yelling at Sami about being a dirty whore. On GH, I'm not sure. William deVry is so bad in this role and it's just going to be more furrowing of that fivehead and more lethargic self-pitying, as the fans who want to have sex with him rage at "hypocrite" Lucas and say things like, "Lucas can go be with Sonny...he's not good enough for Julian!!1!"

I knew for a long time that Ron didn't know how to write (or cast) gay characters. This just reinforces it. Kyle and Fish had some nice moments on OLTL and I liked the actors but it didn't take long for their story to end and for them to get fired.

The actors in this story can't act and I don't care about their characters. When I DVR GH, I skip their scenes unless I'm curious about how horrible their scenes will be.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
