Yeah, I'm thinking this s/l played out during my first year of college in '98 which is why I missed most of it. I did go to the Emmys in '99 when Susan won, so that sounds about right.

I forget the Degrassi character's name (Elly?), but I always associate her with a cutting storyline.

Bianca's anorexia storyline was mostly just a get out of jail free card for Erica's baby napping more than anything else.

I can't remember much of NP's Bianca either. I remember being disappointed that they ousted Gina Gallagher who did bratty child of Erica pretty well with this meek, whinier version. And I remember 1 or 2 eating disorder related scenes (one being Lucci's Emmy reel) but I don't think the story played out for for that long or that it was extremely well developed from the Bianca standpoint- I could be wrong though, I was pretty young when it aired. I've looked for Youtube clips a few times, allmc, but could never seem to find any

As Skin said, I think it was mostly a way to get Erica out of jail. They really had to recast Bianca by 1997 or 1998 because Gina Gallagher was obviously a teenager and couldn't pull off the whole "I'm 10 years old" look anymore. Bianca's age was kind of fluid during most of the 90s, but Gina was always older than Bianca was supposed to be.

It's interesting though to see more recent pictures of Nathalie Paulding because she really does bear a strong resemblance to Eden Riegel.

I remember the mother but maybe she said something too. I remember when she appeared and I could not believe this drab drippy girl was Erica's daughter. Gina Gallagher was no great actress but I missed her dearly initially.

Yes, I seem to recall that she had some obnoxious stage mother complex and was unhappy that Susan didn't mention Nathalie in her Emmy speech because the story was ALL about Nathalie, and I remember reading that and thinking, "welp, guess they'll be recasting Bianca again soon..." I was right too, because Susan won the Emmy in mid-1999, and I don't think we saw Bianca again until she was SORAS'd and recast with Eden Riegel.
