Julia Charlene Merfeld, 20, of Michigan in the US, has pleaded guilty to soliciting the murder of her 27-year-old husband.

An undercover police officer posing as a hit man secretly filmed two videos of Merfeld as they negotiated the killing while sitting in a car.

At one point Merfeld explains that in her opinion, murder would be "easier than divorcing" - she wouldn't have to worry about her family's judgment or "breaking his heart" if he was killed.

This reminds me of another case I saw on television. The guy and his brother are on tape setting up their parents murder for life insurance and the parents stood by them at trial and were devastated that they were sent to prison.

She lives in Muskegon, MI. I'm not too far from there (my dad lives there and my sister works there). This is just ridiculous.

Yeah, I thought this was going to be the story that happened down in Florida. It was a Cops episode and featured on another cable crime program. Imagine waking up with the police pounding on your door to begin with, and then being told you need to go with them because your wife thinks she's about to have you killed? Jesus Lord. What I want to know is, how do these people hook up with these cops posing as hitmen to begin with? Does your dumbass do a Google search? Run an ad on Craigslist?

Her sentencing was today. It's all over local news here. She got a minimum of 5 years and 8 months in prison.
