DAYS: June 2013 Discussion Thread

Anne and JJ teaming up would be excellent. It just would. Why not? They're unlikely allies, but they share a common goal...to bust up Daniel and Jennifer...and if Anne has other intentions to derail Jen's job and mess with her life, JJ doesn't need to be aware of that right now. Not until fallout.

I was surprisingly happy with the way Sami's story is going right now. There are all kinds of holes...letting everyone traipse all over the crime scene, letting the mysterious someone make off with the knife, having Roman questioning his daughter in this circumstance, or Hope, given the fact that she's Sami's aunt. Of course, all these things make it wonderfully complicated, too, IF the show would use these facts to stir up a bigger mess. I hope that's where they're headed. I mean, with all those reporters there, and with that one reporter asking all the RIGHT questions, Bernardi's wife is bound to worry that justice won't be served, and come around to stir up trouble.

Will and Sonny...I like them together. I even like the set up with Gabi and the baby.

I don't think Abe and Kayla would be a good idea. I don't mind them as friends, but a romantic pairing? There's no heat there. Maxine might work for Abe. For Kayla, I think they should bring in a new character. Maybe a doctor who clashes with her or something. I do want Kayla more involved in the happenings of Salem, though.

Daniel and Jennifer? I hate them together. I hate who Jennifer is when she's with Daniel, and I just plain don't like him at all.

I don't care who Nicole ends up with, but I like Nicole. I'm not against Eric. I even liked his scenes with Brady the other day. But they need to pick up the pace with that story because so far, it's just dragging...well, for me, anyway.

But really, the only thing I really just don't like (at the moment) is Daniel and Jennifer. Oh, and Cameron. They need to do something with Cameron to liven him up or give him some layers or something because his story isn't all that wonderful, and because I really prefer Abby and Chad if it comes to that.

I much prefer Chad and Abby. Cameron is so boring. He was only finally interesting during the few weeks he was a stripper. He's alright but it's time to do something with him, or the actor, or get over it. I finally like Camila Banus but I don't want to wait three to four years to finally like Nathan Owens.

I think Casey brings a lot of himself to Chad. The sarcastic comments, etc. I know it's written but I think he's come into his own and I'm glad to see him getting other gigs.

I agree about Chad/Abby. I don't mind Cameron.. I think the actor has a lot of potential and the character is good - but for me Chad/Abby is definitely the rooting couple!

Cameron became boring fast. Which is a shame because I was looking forward to his character.

Both Cameron and Chad are boring.

DAYS should've struck while the iron was hot with Chad & Will. They could've easily made Chad bisexual, thus allowing him to have male or female mates. Would've been interesting at the height of CHILL if Chad was dating Abby but boinking her cousin Will at the same time. Now that would've been must see TV!

Cameron had potential but it was lost with that stupid Magic Mike story. I'm sorry but I don't believe that Cameron wouldn't have money to attend medical school/pay his debts. Lexie was a Dimera & head of the hospital, so she was making bank. Celeste was a mistress of Stefano, had a child by him, and was his faithful confidante for years--I know she's got money too.

I'm still holding out hope that one day DAYS will bring back Nick Alamain (played by Chad Brannon), along with the Alamain clan (minus Melanie) and pair him with Abby. I'd love for him to come back and acquire the Spectator, and Abby be his junior journalist (a la Jack & Jennifer). She hates him b/c he's crude but crushes on him. He thinks she's young and flighty, but he loves her too. They're drawn together like moths to a flame. Also, I'd love to see Jennifer's (and hopefully a well alive Jack) reaction to her daughter dating the son of not only her best friend (Carly) but her rapist (Lawrence) too. Have Jack and Jennifer along with Vivian and Lawrence pulling the strings and trying to keep these two apart . . .

if I recall correctly, part of the reason he did it was bc of Celeste bc she had money issues. He only knew Lexie for like a month. I don't think he'd necessarily have anything from her. She was a Dimera, but she wasn't living off Stefano. Her net worth was what she and Abe had together. I believe Abe offered to help him once and he turned him down, not wanting to leech off of him nor be his problem. Anyways I still like him but he seems to be going nowhere with Abby. Maybe he can hook up with whomever

But Cheap21, c'mon now. Celeste was Stefano's right-hand woman, I know that she was rolling in so much dough that she should never have money issues. If she does, Celeste shouldn't be in trouble too long b/c she can read them d-mn tarot cards and make her money back. Celeste was always on point with her vision. Better use that gift and make some money!

I do remember him and Abe having the convo and I understood that; however, I thought it was stupid that he was hiding the fact that he was a stripper. I've always felt that they should've had him doing something more grittier like peddling dope or drugs from the hospital. That would've caught my attention. Him grinding on stage just made me roll my eyes. Stripping isn't shocking nowadays. It's common for college kids to do that. Selling drugs or being an escort . . . not so much. And I do hope that they get him away from Abby and pair him with someone else b/c if not, I see him joining Abe soon--in the background.

Loved the week as usual!

Nothing much to add to what's in this thread already except that I liked the stony faces on the cops, really loved the irony of Sami and Bernardi's wife bonding, and like the idea of Gabi moving in with Will and Sonny. I agree that Sami's shooting has been suspenseful, and a lot better than what I expected with the "cut it off" lead-in. I love it that we are all wondering where the knife is too -- maybe in the sheets? It doesn't really look like they have gone through the bed and Rafe's clothes.

Also I wonder what Kristen's plan is with the guy she had Stefano call. Hope it is not as simple and going-too-far as wanting to murder Marlena. Sad to see Brady and Nicole kiss as I was still hoping for a Bristen reunion, especially after his fantasy. I loved Deidre Hall's scenes all week, including Marlena's scenes with Eric that I don't think has really been commented on. I agree that it's been great to see the ripple effect of people finding out about Sami shooting Bernardi. Great to see her family trying to reach her to support her.

Yes, also Chad was going to show EJ but then EJ had to go somewhere. Chad had also mentioned catching Sami on video to Will earlier in the week and Will had no idea what he was talking about. Also Sonny later shared a video with his mother that he thought was Will with Arianna, but may end up being Chad's video of Sami.

Many of those are backhanded compliments at best. Lorraine Broderick is a good, sometimes very good, writer, but she's not headwriting and producing the show. Yet she's used to get in digs at people that Nellie Olsen and DC have issues with.

was specifically in response to the Higley/McPherson rumor after the dinner they had to Corday (thus the warning to Ken Corday), and names all the writers not just Broderick.

It's not just Branco that thinks Broderick is writing the show. That's what a lot of people, including on this board, have been saying. Branco gives credit to Tomlin for hiring Broderick, thus the "Camp Tomlin" reference (reference to both Tomlin's camp -- his people, which includes Broderick -- and the supposed campiness of Tomlin).

Broderick has said she doesn't want to headwrite a show, and she also has a certain tone which I don't think we're seeing at the moment, although I'm sure she's a big part of their success. But the way it's worded mostly smells like parsing in a way that will make sure certain soap stenos will not lose face, and they can take it back whenever they wish. If they just said, "DAYS has improved lately. I hope it lasts." I would be more impressed.
