PP: AMC & OLTL to air twice weekly

While the title remains the same, we're dealing about 50 minutes of content now versus a little less than 200 minutes a week on ABC. I can't imagine any way to expand the cast without making for choppy scenes and favorite characters disappearing for 2-3 weeks at a time. I think they'll have a difficult time with the current sized cast but its doable. Susan Lucci for extended guest appearances would probably be smart for publicity though.

Also its hardly the Opal show- she has no story of her own and is pretty much there only because Petey is one of the new young leads.

I really don't think the majority of fans want Rylee or Zendall back or will tune out. They have their ardent supporters but I feel like what I'm watching on Hulu is far closer to the OLD AMC I fell in love with in the early 90s than the last 5 awful years on ABC.

I will never get or agree with the notion to get viewers of a certain demo you have to show ANY one adnauseaum because they represent a certain age. Show characters that are proven favorites that people know in good stories. That's it. Slowly work in the 'new' characters ie SORASED previously background 'legacy' kids.

And there's no room as it is to add these additional characters people are mentioning. What needs to be done pronto is drop the notion anyone wants to see AJ/Miranda/Pete/Celia every damned episode for the majority of the episode. This was ABC's (well one of them) major problem. It's an ensemble cast spread the airtime. No ONE needs to be on every episode.

And I don't care if you're playing a 'legacy' kid. Your character was always in the background so having you front and center out of nowhere is just one step above handing the show to a newbie. I don't know any fans that like having newbies shoved down their throats or feel that teens nor 20 somethings are all that enthralling.

I can deal with 2 episodes a week. The problem I'm having is that it's going to be 2 24 min episodes of the Pelia/Ajanda show w cameo appearances by the characters people have tuned in for all these years. And as I much as I'm enjoying the Cass/Jessie/Angie story I think that one needs a break as well. Give some others a story and chance for airtime. Balance what you have - don't add more.

And lastly, not getting why MEK or SL are seen as so vital to the show. Good stories and balanced airtime seem more the order.

I agree with you, dragonfiles. As a P&G soap fan, I would compare this to when fans got upset about the new production model on GL-- a radical step to cut costs that could work or fail. Peapack was done in order to save the show, but it wasn't being "entitled" and ungrateful that the soap wasn't cancelled yet though to complain that this could end up killing the show.

Also, some some so-called fans not only quit watching but also urged others not to watch, as if that would help the situation -- so it's a similar reaction that happened then as is happening now. Hopefully there will be a different end result though as despite the similarities, there are also of course many differences in the experiments.

I'm not urging anyone to stop watching AMC and OLTL. That solves nothing. But don't ask anyone to watch and say absolutely nothing negative. Otherwise, how are these shows supposed to improve?

ICAM! Rylee & Zzzendull were detrimental because they took up so much screen time and despite their tiny base of ardent fans, neither one qualified as a true supercouple who used to bring in viewers daily back in the 1980s and 1990s.

I'd love to have balanced airtime, too! I agree we don't like getting the young characters shoved down our throats, but I disagree that it doesn't matter if they're legacy characters. At least in this situation, we get to see them interact with their parents. So far, I feel like Pete/Celia have been on too much but not AJ/MIranda. It matters to me that we get to see AJ with Brooke, Adam, Dixie and now JR and Miranda with Bianca (and hopefully Erica eventually).

LOL so what I'm allowed to be. Just like there are some who want to do nothing but kiss PP's hiney all the way to whenever these shows could end. Even then those same people would still say PP are perfect and that they poop rainbows and butterflies. Those same people even excuse PP treating SL like dirt in 2011 when they blamed her for the show's not getting off the ground.

Awww did you not like what Jamey said. Then don't read it. It's not rocket science. I know you're smarter than that. That's why they call it the IGNORE FEATURE. It's very easy to use.

You finding something obnoxious, hilarious wink.png

I gave the shows a chance just like I said I would. LMAO now that's a crime. I love that people aren't allowed to be pissed about this move. Oh no be grateful PP is showing them at all. Who cares if stories will move at snail's pace for months till we get the new episodes they've filmed and will film

Do you not like that Elsa isn't kissing PP's ass either. Too bad. She's allowed to feel how she wants. You can kiss PP's ass all you want, doesn't mean others have to act like "robots" or brainwashed cult members and do the same.

It was the same when they were trying to get these shows off the ground on THIS board. NO ONE was allowed to say anything bad about those Saints Prospect Park.

Where did I say I liked PP. I still don't trust them. Never have. they turned out a good product and I (as many others are) very open minded about watching and judging for myself.

Where does it say that one has to like PP in order to be able to enjoy AMC & OLTL? Show me that. Oh that's right you can't, cause nothing like that was ever said. People don't like ABC but can still enjoy General Hospital or any other show they air. For years I hated the woman who ran the CW network but that didn't mean I couldn't enjoy the show's on that network

Seriously spare anyone a lecture, cause no one needs to be lectured, least of all by you.

With that I'm done. I only responded to this cause someone quoted it. I shouldn't have responded cause you love the attention and I should be flattered you love to give me so much attention wink.png

I think it's a random mix of characters, not that they aren't all legacy characters. I do feel the lack of Erica leaves a huge void. None of the adults have storylines, which is another problem. And then you have nobody in that late-twenties early thirties age range and that needs to be fleshed out as well.
