I enjoyed everything about the Nurses Ball again. Rick Springfield was fantastic. Duke/Anna were great. I liked the Emma/Ugly Betty 'Call Me Maybe' for Emma mostly. The Sabrina part, sorry, was very eye roll worthy (once she changed out of the robe it was better). But Emma is adorable and for her it was cute. LOL @ the striptease performance. Chad Duell looked mostly so uncomfortable which was hilarious.

LOL @ Richard Simmons being carried out by men in their underwear. I LOLd again when he waved and said hello to Bobbie and also told her to say hello to Lesley.

I noticed Monica up and disappeared.

Quite liked Britt's dramatic entrance and yes she did seem very soap diva like today. I loved it.

EDIT:

Whoops. I liked Felicia/Mac, mostly. It felt kinda meh even though I'm glad she chose him. I mean, I bought it but I hope we don't have to go through this again.

Kirsten did well as Maxie realized Frisco was walking out again. Love that Ellie was overhearing Frisco/Maxie.

I mean, I do hope he comes back. I dunno if the writing was that great for him, overall, but he had some good moments/scenes with both Kirsten and Kristina. I gotta say I loved his "All I Need" on Friday. Man. That was good.

I think JW's stint was pretty much a disaster except for "All I Need." So of course, he will be back and Frisco will "win" Felicia. Because 1986. Ron doesn't ever do this stuff for no reason.

I don't think Frank Valentini would ever let Chad Duell go.

Yeah. I was honestly left feeling like "this isn't gonna end well for Mac even though she chose him'. I just had such a meh feeling so I fully expect something down the line.

I like that Frank was "surprised" by Lynne Herring in her return. Let's hope that leads them to keep her around. Is she still taping? I know Jon said he would be back so I assume they're just 'here' until they aren't lol.

Lucy introduced him as RS, thanks to Noah for getting him there. Noah was of course MIA during the performance. After it was done Noah walked back in next to Bobbie who mentioned she never noticed he looked like Rick Springfield before, or something like that.

This means she is sticking around right? She better be dammit!

I thought today was fine, the strip was kind of funny. Richard Simmons was sooo OTT though (he had some funny moments when they carried him out). Lynn H still has an amazing body. Almost 60 and still willing to be in her underwear? Awesomesauce.

The Sabrina propping is getting out of damn hand, ENOUGH.

I really do like Britta, I think she's interesting. The identity of her father was pretty predictable though.

Best performance was Rick Springfield's as the cast seem to really enjoy and have fun with that one.

Yeah, Bradford Anderson over Sean Blakemore? The mind boggles.

Also: Dr. O and Britt snarking on the Nurses Ball while watching it on TV in MC robes is quite possibly the greatest thing to ever happen wub.png .

That's when I KNEW it was the Nurses Ball! biggrin.png

Bobbie remarked to Noah afterwards that she never realized how much he resembled RS. A bit meta for my taste, but they didn't harp on it for too long, thankfully.

He was GREAT today, though. The cast was clearly in HEAVEN hearing him sing.

The good, the bad and the ugly

The good - Rick Springfield sounded great, oh the memories that song brings back. Surprised and glad RC restrained himself to only one 1 Noah you look just like him wink. FH still has some great moves, good tango! Predictable yet soapy good twist with Faison being Britta's poppa. Wow Patrick remembered he had a wife and RC finally remembered the ball was supposed to be an AIDs fund raiser. I've been saddened at the lack of red ribbons, a charity auction and Lucy pleading for donations.

The bad - Frisco & Maxie's rushed ending. RC should have written Maxie slapping his face & saying all the things we've been dying to hear her throw in his face. That would have been cathartic. Instead, it's more of RC's rushed exits that lack heart or depth. Flea asking Mac to marry her were would have resonated if RC had invested any time in showing Felicia falling back in love with Mac this last year. Instead it comes off Felicia trying too hard to prove she's over Frisco.

The ugly - Magic Milo dance number. I enjoy a good striptease but that was cringe-worthy embarrassing and Lucy in her undies wasn't funny this time. Her and Richard Simmons were just painfully bad. At a ball in honor of Robin, Patrick & Emma should have had one moment of sadness missing Robin. Instead, both are grinning like idiots giddy with happiness - the disconnect is glaring.

    • I’m going to be livid if Willow and Drewfus get the kids. Which I guess is good soap opera because it’s making me feel. Drew is the slimiest character on soaps right now. Again I question if he actually even loves Willow at this point or just loves having someone he can control.
    • Ugh.. I'll jump into it at some point; I just have to be in that mindset to venture in.
    • An interview with one of my favorite ever soap friendships, Drew and Boyd!

    • I'm now up to the 1986 Bauer BBQ episode, and everything has changed again! In episodes just a month or so before, Jackson was giving Mindy wise and friendly advice about her career and marriage. In this one, he's suddenly a scruffy villain who has trashed Mindy's reputation by sending some risqué photos to a men's magazine.  WHAT? Simon has been outed as an imposter. Is he in jail? No. India is in Andorra with her father and  Alan, who is plotting his return to SF. Her father is pushing her to marry Alan. Even though she is obviously attracted to him, she's completely against the idea. The woman who blackmailed Phillip and tried to blackmail Simon into marrying her because her one goal in life was to become a Spaulding is now hesitant about trying to land another one? Sure, I get she doesn't trust him, but what a missed opportunity! Bernau and Adams had a strong onscreen chemistry. Their scenes together are really enjoyable to watch. What fun it would have been if they had followed through with this and had them marry or plan to marry while both planned to stab each other in the back. And MAYBE at some point actually fall for each other. They could have been an awesome scheming power couple. Not surprisingly, the HW team had changed again. Ryder was out, and Munisteri was now paired with Ellen Barrett. The 1986 roller-coaster continues.
    • Pleeeease I hope the writers have thought of this.
    • I want to see her doing brunch at the country club, flirting with the personal trainers and taking FULL advantage of all the perks while it lasts
    • It's on Prime too and Pluto TV. It's also available digitally.   The Blu-ray release has the movies that haven't been seen in HD, and they've corrected the premiere two-hour movie as it originally aired. The DVD and digital release use the syndicated split two episodes.   My maternal grandmother was a big fan of the show. I had no idea until later in its run.
    • Omg I didn’t even think about that she’d be beyond the gates doing his therapy! How exciting!
    • I assumed that Reva viewed Cain as someone she owed her life to since he was the one that helped save her during her attempted suicide.. so she felt responsible when he became ill. I imagine that Long would have used Cain as an obstacle/distraction for Reva as Kyle was working through his marriage to Maeve.  What interested me was that Fletcher/Maeve were tested earlier then I thought with his constant visiting Maeve in the hospital in December 1985... so possibly Long had it planned out that Fletcher would have been the right man for Maeve while Reva was the right woman for Kyle. Both Kyle and Maeve came from money... so I could see Long planning to ultimately pair them with opposites in a socioeconomical sense of the word had she stayed on. I certainly know had she been headwriting the show when Newman came back as Josh.. she wouldn't have quickly reunited Josh/Reva.
    • I could see where Kyle was intriguing for a hot minute, given that he was a millionaire with a secret grudge against the Lewises. But the entire premise for his grudge is stupid, and Reva's insta attraction to him doesn't fly.  I do think Reva needed to be separated from the Lewises, but she always comes off as a little lost without them, imo. I'm surprised they tied Kyle to them so rapidly. They could've drawn that story out for the entire two years Larkin was there.
