AMC: The Prospect Park Era (old production thread)

I think it's all in the way they release the news. The way they tend to release things is why people question them. A good PR firm would prevent this.

The same things I think they need to do now are the same things I said they should do from the beginning. Simple, common sense things that would've made things run smoother.

Well, Thorsten Kaye's out.

TV Guide Magazine: So I guess we can assume that you are no longer legally bound to Prospect Park?

Kaye: I don't have a contract there anymore. It's sad, you know? And I hope it all works out for them. But when you have a solid opportunity on a show that's so highly regarded, you just gotta take it. [Laughs] This may come as a surprise to you, but I wasn't sitting around with 10 other offers on the table.

TV Guide Magazine: Wasn't All My Children supposed to start production again very soon — like next week? Is it dead?

Kaye: That's an interview we'll need to do in a few weeks when we see what happens. There are a lot of talented and caring people over there and I wish them all luck. And I certainly hope that my leaving will not affect the show in some bad way. There is just so much uncertainty in this business, especially in what we've been trying to do with AMC. I do believe it's going to work out for them, but I gotta be doing something. It's so different out there for an aging actor than it is for the 20-year-olds. When you're young you can take your chances, you can live on somebody's couch and survive on Doritos, but there comes a point where you have to say, "What's best for my family?"

Recipe for a PP news thread on SON:

the usual list of supporters and detractors

+

sweeping declarations of why the news in question is bad,

+

armchair hindsight of what PP should've done a year ago

+

retread discussions of that stupid [!@#$%^&*] lawsuit

+

copy & pastes of tweets and FB status updates from the actors dragged here from every corner of the internet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mix well then pour liberal amounts of alcohol through the whole thread and bake at 400 degrees until the next bit of news drops.

Sounds about right ....

Good for Thorsten. I find it a bit of an odd choice for Ridge but congrats to him. I can kinda see him on B&B, I guess. Too bad Hunter and Taylor aren't around. I think he'd fit great with her.

Yay, no threat of a Zzzzendull reunion is fantastic news for us AMC fans!biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png Now Kendall can die in Bianca's arms after her body rejects Josh's heart.

Good for him. He will be a good Ridge. I do feel If and when AMC & OLTL return, another time jump may be necessary like a year or two. I do feel TK leaving wont cause AMC to not return. Maybe it wont be a time jump per say but PP will just have to explain what hapens to the characters not there

I don't see either of these shows in production before the year is up. I'll be there if they do return, but I don't think anything is going to happen in the near future. Thorsten was one of their stars and he's already released from his contract, which means everybody else is. If and when these shows get back up and running they'll have to re-sign everybody which might be a hassle. Plus we're going to have to deal with more cases like this as people find work.

Congrats to TK. He's right - at a certain point in life you have to think about your kids and your family and your long-term career. I wish him well on B&B.

This news does make me much less inclined to believe AMC will be back :( Still hopeful, though. However, if they do come back, Zach's absence won't be that hard to explain. His character did not have as many interactions as others.

I agree If and when they start production wont be til January at the earliest and maybe thats the right idea. get the prod model down, get the cast, write the scripts. Then film.

Yeah I agree. Makes me wonder if Ronn Moss will try & get the part back now.

You don't need to recast Zach. Just say he reunited with Kendall.

Exactly why I thought the 3 from OLTL were right to join and stay at GH.

I believe the contracts were only for that short run anyway--weren't they?
