As a fan of either AMC or OLTL, I don't see a valid reason for anybody not to tune in, at least for that first week to see how it is. I'm not saying buy the show and make a commitment, but at least check it out. This is a new venture and familiar soaps. I'd at least be curious.

I just wonder how things will be once the soaps premiere. Will they both be well received? What couples will start to build fanbases? What will the major complaints be? Who will be the star performers? Things like that. It'll be nice to have two more soaps to discuss.

The only disadvantage is that if a character/actor isn't well-received, it would take longer to recast and/or change how the character is written to show up.. since they are taping quite a bit in advance. Still, as long as the stories are good.. the acting is good.. and the individual scenes are good, plus there is character balance then we should be all good.

True, but that hasn't hurt Days of our Lives, so far. They film way too far in advance. Based on the current film schedule, both soaps won't be too far ahead of their airdates...at least not initially.

I worry about that too. If there is a storyline or actor that just doesn't work, I worry we'll be stuck with it. Of course both shows they want the best and think what they're doing is the best, but you never truly know until these things air. I just hope they have strong stories and characters and that the writers are pacing it to go through the entire year. I don't want them treading water and then throwing everything together at the end.

If someone is not going to tune in, that's their prerogative but why post about it before the show has even aired a single episode? This just makes the poster sound silly. I might be able to understand if the show had actually aired and it was horrible or somehow deemed unacceptable but that poster's rant is sight unseen. I don't understand that.

Watching soaps over the years, there've been incidents when I haven't liked the fact that an actor (or two) have left but if the rest of the show is compelling and the stories are written well, I would still watch. Everyone is entitled to their own views but I just don't get the meowing over something sight unseen.

I don't have a problem with people deciding they aren't going to watch. Lord knows I wouldn't watch OLTL if they were giving away free weed. But this person saying that they won't tune in because the show isn't bringing back EVERYONE is unrealistic. Actors move on, there are conflicts, people become unavailable for a whole host of reasons. That's true for anything. When House went off the air Lisa Edelstein refused to come back for the finale. LOST couldn't bring back Malcolm David Kelley because he'd grown and changed so much from his original appearance. If you watched for Zendall and don't want to tune in without them, fine. I get that but don't play it off as some principled stand.

Honestly, I wish people wouldn't drop that stuff here. IMO, it adds little to this board and only serves to drive traffic to garbage. Let these folks throw their tantrums in the shadows.

Mama Khan remembers her days as a PBX operator, and even she is like, "I can watch all this on my Roku and save on my cable bill? Hook me the hell up!". So I don't know what their problem is.

I respectfully disagree regarding it not affecting Days because if a story isn't working, it can take up to three months before the changes are seen on screen. In this day and age, people aren't as patient as they used to be. They have so many more options to choose from nowadays that they most likely aren't willing to wait three months for these so-called changes to appear on screen.

Granted, that's the gamble these shows take nowadays but with the benefit of cost savings comes the added risk of viewers tuning out with the delay in corrections/changes. In my opinion, sometimes it's a no win situation.
