PP will have to walk a very fine line to figuring out a way to retain loyal and dedicated lifetime viewers to get the core to stay with them and try to incorporate new viewership without losing the core base that kept the show alive and on air for the 41 years that it did. If they start losing too much of the core because they see too much change going on, they will decide to walk away, meaning AMC is over. again....

The Online Network announced two cast additions today. Brooke Newton, who has appeared on GLEE and MAD MEN, will take on the role of Colby Chandler, daughter of Adam and Liza. The part was last played by Natalie Hall from 2009-11. Newton will first appear on May 16. In addition, Jason Pendergraft will play the part of Dr. Anders, described as an "all-business physician." Pendegraft played the short-term role of Lance on ATWT and had a multi-episode run on ARMY WIVES as Dr. Blake Hanson. He'll debut on May 27.

Ah, enter Colby and this new Doctor. AMC has to get more characters in there to strengthen the show, overall. Gotta start filling holes/spaces/gaps ASAP.

Tribute To Pine Valley FB website had a poll on how the first week went and it is not great. Some -2, -1, 0 and a wide range of numbers. Definitely quite a few that say they won't continue to watch the show unless Tad, Erica, Greenlee among others come back in a timely manner. Alot of negative on the TTPV FB site. Some want their old show back/characters too. Some gave the show a 9, if Tad and Erica come back. I think that all of them deep down want the show to succeed, BUT. Those rabid Zendall fans out there, the Rylee fans out there, well I just don't know what to say. But The Tribute To Pine Valley FB page and reading the complaints/grievances/wishes and wants was for sure very enlightening and a little scary too. Apparently some of the posters there have very little hope of AMC succeeding and that gives pause but I hope that everyone will see that this is ONLY the second week and Ginger Smith has said. more core characters are coming so it's gonna take time folks, and patience.

Peter Bergman talks about AMC and OLTL

“You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in daytime television who isn’t cheering them on,” says Bergman, of the new Web-based soaps. “I hope it is a massive success and I’m one person who’s going to buy Hulu Plus and check it out.” (Though the first episodes of AMC and OLTL went live on Apr. 29, Bergman said he planned to watch later in the week—one of the advantages of online viewing.)

Bergman says that he never believed the network would actually cancel the shows, but knows that the salad days of soaps have long passed. “I got to ride the crest of the wave back in the ‘80s,” he says. “It was an extraordinary time. It was a national phenomenon, this daytime thing. Those days were heady days and they’ve passed, but what’s there now is still really significant.”

@JAS0N47 clarified on another thread that there were no new recordings made.
    • I think Whitesell had the shortest EP term on SFT of any prior EP; he was EP from Nov 22 1985 to maybe Feb 86 or early March; his first Another World EP credit is March 27 1986. He was paired with Maggie DePriest whose material started April 1 86 on AW.
    • It is such a joy to watch Days again.  Gone is the silliness and the show I watched off and on since 1985 is back.  The writers are doing incredibly well considering the mess they had to fix.  They were also challenged with 3 huge tasks - killing John, correctly the misstep that was Bo's return and crafting a 60th anniversary celebration.  I think we are in for a rewarding ride over the next year.

    • Also Jamie posted that Drake had made a recording of his voice for the fans during the last days for him, and he did it for the story being told. Fans, as you can imagine, are so very moved by his doing this. It is truly going over & beyond.
    • "It is wonderful that you figured out who you want to love." - Dani to her daughter Chelsea, BTG, 5-21-25 Chelsea, stung from a recent rejection, had a strong reaction to seeing her mother kiss her best friend Pamela, passionately. She took it as a sign of disrespect of WLW from her mother. Dani, of course, had not meant it to be so. As a result of this Dani & her daughter had a fairly long involved discussion. You see Chelsea recently & for the first time has offered her heart to this woman she had been in a threesome with. But she had realized that she now had new & quite serious feelings for the wife but not for her husband. Of course this had become a problem. If anything in a threesome is against the rules, falling in love with one but not the other, is.
    • Thanks! I know the Infinity story takes the heat for the lackluster of 1985, but the Charlotte Wheaton story isn't any better. Other than proving Barbara Garrick has a talent for playing mean spirited kooks. Watching Richard VanVleet is like watching paint dry.
    • They aren't all bio, but I remember DD saying he treats them as if they were. He seems like a good man.
    • I thought that might be it. Thanks.
