Poor Uncle Porkchop. Damn you Janet from another planet.

OMG I love you.

He's been around forever. I hope after he leaves GH he never darkens another soap's doorstep again. BYE SCOTT REEVES. HAVE FUN IN TENNESSEE.

HAVE FUN HATING GAYS AND SHOOTING TRESPASSERS WITH YOUR WIFE. SODONEWITHHIMBUHBYE.

I know. It was just so....bland.

Like frozen Uncle Porkchop himself. Unless Janet had some Mrs. Dash.

Yeah SO incredibly dull haha

And then there was the one with the hands. So. Many. Hands. I hope Howie Mandel wasn't a GUIDING LIGHT fan, because this particular open would have driven his OCD ass up the damn wall.

Tell me, too, I'm not the only one who yelled "SUPERMAN!" after the beam of light and everyone got through rattling off all those buzz words.

I'm going to be honest, I actually don't mind that opening OR the Y&R porn opening.

Actually, I could listen to the Y&R porn theme all day.

That's why I loved the "classic" AMC opening from the '80's. No matter where the show was tonally, whether everything was relatively innocent or increasingly more melodramatic, the opening sequence with its simple image (a hand opening a photo album) and theme music fit smoothly and evoked what TPTB had hoped the audience would take away from watching the show, regardless of storylines. (Same goes, by the way, for DAYS' openings.)

That's interesting because as much as I LOVE that AMC opening, I flove the book that came after that more. For some reason the DAYS hourglass is more iconic to me than the book, probably because that idea of opening the book was still there in most of the openings that came after it. I'm sorry, but the AMC gold opening from 2002-2003 will always reign supreme. So motherfucking brilliant.

Also. dear God, that GL opening from 2007 is horrid. Glad I wasn't watching then.

IMO, though, the one before it -- the one others have called the "Life Savers" opening -- wasn't much better. I felt it was too derivative of "Hold on to Love" (an opening sequence, btw, I didn't much care for either) and the font of "guiding" on top of "LIGHT"...it just looked stupid.

I love James Kiberd though. So, killing the chop was not right.

For God sake. The man loved his fans so much he wore the tacky ties they sent him.

I like him too. Killing him off via freezer was really when that show started making me mad.

Amen about the Gold Scrapbook opening. It was lovely.

Scott Reeves and Kristen Alderson hate? We're so best friends.

Trevor was ruined when they had Janet married to him (when he really knew it was Janet). Just bad.

It happened before I started watching. But, like I said. Youtube is the shiznit. From what I've seen of Trevor. He was great. And, then just letting him die like that. So wrong.

The Santa Barbara opening has always been interesting to me, since I grew up there and know some of those places (the Mission, Courthouses).

Passions had an irritating theme song and the opening was not great either.

I wanted to post something in this thread but then I realized Y&R and B&B (the only soaps I watch) have always had good openings, IMO. And yes, I loved the porn opening.

Yeah, but it always seemed strange to me how a character who came to Pine Valley as some greasy-looking mercenary evolved into garrulous "Uncle Porkchop."

I didn't read through so maybe this has already been mentioned but I hate GH's current opening. I also grew very tired of the opening OLTL had at its end.
