December 26, 201213 yr Member Ha! I smirk in satisfaction at being right. I cannot believe that people actually believed that Burton wanted to leave GH. He quit because he was not happy with Jason getting a rival in McBain. His ego could not take it. I wonder what happens to him at Y&R. There are already so many huge egos there. He will be clawing for airtime after his initial big story. Agreed. And at the same time, it paints Benard in a new favourable light to me.
December 26, 201213 yr Member Did he have reason to be threatened by Michael Easton of all people though? It's been months since Jason "died" and McBain is essentially a useless background character with no real story or individual direction.

But I knew Stevo left because he was not going to be written as top dog. They forced him out because Easton was to take his place. SBu was demand crazy though, and that kind of "actor" bugs the hell out of me. I'd love to see Easton gone. If Todd could bury John alive, I'd love him forever
December 26, 201213 yr Member From what I'm hearing Easton is not being received very well. I've heard the same thing. If Burton had just been more patient he might've saved himself a lot of trouble.
December 26, 201213 yr Member Other than Todd (only because Howarth is surprisingly the only man to make Laura Wright seem less asexual on GH), I just laugh at the hyperbole that OLTL characters have suddenly made GH better and saved it from cancellation. If the show tanks ratings-wise 6 months from now, will they be to blame too? Of course not. I want to know what exactly McBain and Starr have brought to the show in order to "save" it - I'm still waiting for a cohesive reason. I wouldn't be surprised if it was indeed true that Easton/McBain isn't testing well with GH audiences. I never thought he was anything special on OLTL, and solely protected there by Frons and Valentini.
December 26, 201213 yr Member LMFAO I believe EB just threw some shade This person was being snarky and tweeted this ScottyB @scooterbeanbag @EBraeden are you excited to be working with the one and only Steve Burton on Y&R now?!! Eric Braeden @EBraeden @scooterbeanbag I'm sorry, but who is he? I truly don't know!
December 26, 201213 yr Member His ego isn't good for Y&R. I haven't enjoyed Josh Griffith's writing, but this is making me irritated with JFP now. What is the purpose of him on the show? The show needs leading ladies, not more leading men. And we KNOW he's going to be an airhog. He isn't going to leave GH over diva issues to come to Y&R and play second fiddle to anybody. They're doing the same thing MAB did in terms of casting He will fit right in at today's Y&R. There will be blood on the walls. LMFAO I believe EB just threw some shade See above. Geez. Braeden isn't even pretending. And if he thinks that's bad wait until he meets Stafford.
December 26, 201213 yr Member I'd love to read a new interview with Burton and how he's going to explain this, since he went on his "goodbye tour" talking about wanting to live fully in Nashville.

If your reason for appeal to GH viewers hinges on a show canceled ten years ago, then you aren't going to have a great chance. I think KA did or does have a following with young girls, but the writing has been horrific.

Granted, I think that RC tried to leverage it but it's not like we're talking about Jesse and Angie here. Nostalgia will only go so far. I think Howarth, Easton and KA all have devoted fanbases but IMO whether or not those fanbases have made any difference in GH's ratings is subjective and unprovable. I'm willing to bet that Burton's fanbase is every bit as large and/or devoted as those others. I think GH has benefited from the time change and the returns much more than the OLTLivers. Burton screwed himself by indulging his ego instead of biding his time. Edited December 26, 201213 yr by marceline
