I read an interview he gave about a week and he kept stressing that the "timing just wasn't right." I wonder if perhaps he has some awareness of all of the haters out there that poke fun of his weight gain and his full head of grey hair and he might be trying to get back into shape or at least shed 10-20 pounds (?).

I'm not saying he should be doing this because I love Tad just the way he is/was when the show ended in 2011. Actually, wasn't there a brief story arc where Opal suggested he dye the gray out of his hair to try to impress Cara, a good twenty years younger than him and he put an end to the idea halfway through. That was something I could completely see Michael E. Knight suggesting to the writing staff.

I don't know, I just want him back just like Ilene Kristen of One Life to Live. Two of my go to people for guaranteed good laughs and good acting.

I don't mind the weight OR the grey hair, what bothered me is that he looked...bad. He wasn't overweight and making the most of it, he looked sweaty and uncomfortable and the way they dressed him made him look disheveled (and why was Tad always in an ill-fitting suit? As far as I recall he didn't have a job). And MEK looked miserable, I recall a number people asking if he was sick, in fact the immediate response here when he said he wasn't coming back right now was "Is he ill?".

It seems like I've heard of this guy before....he may have been a dayplayer in the past on OLTL. Can't remember...but he kind of seems a little desperate....

I've kind of compare him to Jack Abbott, actually the way Jack used to be, because they've gotten into writing Jack as a 'sad sack' over the past several years.

But in their heydey, Smilin' Jack and Tad the Cad were sharp dressed guys with swagger. I wish they would've kept those aspects of their personalities even as they age and mature.

I remember seeing MEK on that soap themed episode of Oprah where he was making self deprecating jokes about his appearance. It just seemed like he was trying to poke fun at himself before anyone else could get the chance, even though he was in a room full of adoring fans. And when two women in the audience gushed about how sexy they thought and still think he is, he genuinely seemed taken aback.

Does anyone think that AMC's budget was part of the reason why MEK looked so disheveled and uncomfortable? I know Victoria Rowell had some complaints about hair and wardrobe. Is it possible that due to his weight, MEK might have felt slighted his last few years on AMC somehow?
