Agnes doesn't strike me as the type to have a scat fetish.

He lives and breathes.

I apologize if it's already been mentioned but does anybody have specifics as to why the "timing is really bad" for Michael E. Knight to come back? Is he in poor health?

I remember reading a year or so ago (I think it was on the WLS blog) that he was doing some theater production in L.A., I think.

If he's still doing that, I honestly don't know, I haven't read anything since then.

No theatre production in LA would last a year ;)

I already assumed that Brooke would be back based on the audition thing, but it's nice to have confirmation! Once again, I just wish they had some familiar younger characters too. There is little to complain about with the vet characters, except perhaps Jackson not being part of it.

What does McPherson have that people remember? Will Horton coming out and a Daytime Emmy.

That is one story he did decades ago and it's still remembered, good or bad. What does McPherson have that people remember, good or bad? Nothing and she just left last year. Besides, Thom Racina's career speaks for itself. He's worked on several soaps and had lots of success with it. She's worked on DAYS and Passions and had very limited success. Yes she won that Emmy and yes that episode was great, but her tenure was terrible. I don't care so much about the teen focus or the 5 year switch, but I can't get too excited about anything AMC until I see the final product. Her work does not inspire faith.

I'm probably alone on this, but I hope they don't try to recreate old sets. These are new shows, so I want them to create new, modern sets. The previous sets in many cases were also very old. I just want the sets to be nice and well decorated. I wouldn't bother creating explainations of why certain things look different or saying that everybody moved.

The only part of that anyone seems to remember was him giving EJ a lap dance.

Maria Arena Bell has an Emmy. Lynn Marie Latham has an Emmy. Jill Farren Phelps and Bob Guza have several Emmys. And Will Horton's coming out worked mainly due to the actors, that story didn't pick up (including a romance) until she left. Anything else? Exactly. :)

Will was going gay long, long before she came along.

And really? Emmy does not equate to talent.

Vets and a community feel are more than half the battle of a good soap for me, so I think I will like AMC fine! At worst, she will lay the groundwork for a better writer to pick up and write better stories for later. I don't think Prospect Park would be unwilling to fire her if need be before the first year is up. They want to make this work. They wouldn't go to all this trouble if they just wanted to kill the show off again.

But if there was no community feel from the start, that would be hard to recapture later.

Emmys don't equal amazing talent, but they are not meaningless. Especially for a show like Days that has been consistently shunned in the Emmys, to have won a writing Emmy is significant. Y&R/Maria Arena Bell winning a writing Emmy is whatevs, old hat, but Days, that hadn't happened since the 70s.

If all you want are vets and a community feel MM will be great.

If you want a good storyline that plays out well, well... i wouldnt hold my breath.

Ill take a ton of devloping newbies in a good, solid story over a bunch of vets just... being there. Anytime.
