Personally, I think of the three characters only John McBain can be recast. Starr Manning can be too, but I feel Kristen owns the role just as Kimberly McCullough owns Robin Scorpio. If Kristen never wanted to play Starr again after leaving OLTL, I'd say different.

I agreed with you until the bolded part. They do share part of the blame for this happening, and I agree that in life sometimes you can't get what you want. However, Prospect Park allowed ABC/GH to use their characters. They didn't have to. ABC/GH needs to accept that they got a loan and now they must return what they borrowed. Just because someone isn't using their owned property, doesn't mean they lose ownership of said property.

The mess is over the actors, not the characters. That's the issue. Prospect Park wants its characters back with or without the actors, preferably with, and ABC holds the contracts for all three performers. Now they (ABC) must decide how to retain the actors knowing they can't play the OLTL characters. As a result, PP would have to decide how they can use the characters without the actors people recognize in the roles.

but to me it seems the actors as well, they have been told they aren't allowed at GH after Feb 8th, if say GH is making ME Caleb, then why can't he go to work the next day playing Caleb not John? I just have a suspicion that PP got Disney to say the actors can't be new characters either

I think not recasting Starr and letting KA play her for so long has done the character more harm than good in the long run. KM made a good transition from child to teen to adult. I dont think the same is true for Alderson as Starr, whom only ever worked as a kidIt takes time to actually come up with a story and write it bc you have to thing of the longterm ramifcations and where you plan on taking the characters months down the line. This is all happening fast. Its not as simple as just let them play someone the next day

Ron actually does plan both long-term and on the fly, depending on his circumstances. He'll put something in a script and then pick it up six months later. But then he'll also turn something totally around because of an idea that came to him in the moment.

This. I think he will put more thought into this instead of just having them come on the next day as new characters. The Caleb stuff is easier as there's a story currently going on involving the character's history. ME will probably play Caleb for the current story to play out, and then be offscreen for several weeks as RC thinks of a way to actually make him viable and work longterm
