HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Damn girl i'd kill for that, if I want another cable box it's like another $10 a month. I need whole home DVR but it's expensive. my two year deal is up next month. I barely use the home phone but if I drop it they charge more for not having it, ugh

I love netflix, I just got it and am still on my free trial, I love it so much lol. I think I'll keep it when the trial is up.

You'be surprised what deals you can get by simply threatening to cancel your subscription/packages. Just play nice with customer support.

So will toln.com just serve as a site to advertise the shows, profile cast and crew, show short clips? This Hollywood Reporter article (with a great old picture, including Bianca lookin like Meg Griffin http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/all-my-children-one-life-live-revival-premiere-date-itunes-hulu-415361 ) mentions that the shows will appear on the actual TOLN website as well but unless I missed something they don't say anything about that in the press release. I wonder if the episodes will only appear on toln.com weeks or months after their Hulu runs.

I love the 14 year old picture they used for that article. Becca! Abigail Spencer's had a pretty decent career since her time on AMC.

I know! For a hot second, I thought that was Kendall leering in the corner, then the abundance of curls hit me, "Damn! Becca Tyree??" Erica lived in about 17 other places since that picture was taken.

TOLN will be the ABC.com for the soaps. They'll air the shows on TOLN like ABC does with their programs, but also allow Hulu and iTunes distribution.

I see, thanks. It's great that they've been able to spread the shows around. The more ad and download dollars the better.

I might just do that lol. I've been a customer for 6 years and have never missed paying my bill

Now whenever I hear Maury say, "If you're in the Stamford, CT area..." I imagine Destiny and Matthew in some awful paternity test episode. ph34r.png

Why does Matt Borlenghi want to be All My Children so bad??

https://www.facebook.com/MattBorlenghiBrianBodineBackToAllMyChildren

I've gotten messages from at least two different members of his family in the past 12 hours asking me to like and promote this page and help get him back on AMC.

I actually talked to him once before when he was supposed to be on GH.... I think he is obsessed with being on the soaps blink.png

Interesting. See, this is why I think they need a new name. "The Online Network" sounds like a destination site, not merely a promotional site for programs appearing online.

I think he's obsessed with being employed.

Im sure PP will figure it out for non US viewers. PP wants these soaps to be seen internationally

Didn't DirectTV worked out some type of deal with Passions with a paid channel in Canada? I'm sure PP can do the same or something similar with AMC and OLTL.

If nothing can be worked out, this is the internet and you will find it somewhere for free. So I wouldn't worry.

And Khan, I love you but saying you want to build the shows from the ground up and then decrying every hire of anyone under 50 is kind of counterproductive.

Not necessarily. I am not averse to hiring anyone under 50; and of course, you need younger characters, even ones who were there stinking up the shows at the last, to augment the scant few vets available in order for the reboots to thrive. Like it or not, but some of those characters are essential. But are they all essential? That's my question.

We might need JR for AMC 2.0, for example, along with Bianca or Kendall (notice I said "or"), but do we really need Griffin and Cara? Or even Zach, for that matter? And even though I wasn't a fan of Destiny's, as the mother of Bo Buchanan's grandson on OLTL 2.0, she, along with baby-daddy Matthew, is essential. But why, aside from the fact that he turns on some people, is Cutter necessary for OLTL, too? Why is David Vickers? Or even the Port Charles Three? Hell, I'm not sure OLTL needs even Clint anymore!

Look, all I'm saying, or asking, is why must PP make every attempt at recreating AMC and OLTL's final cast right down to the last supporting and recurring player? Don't they get that a big reason why these shows were vulnerable to cancellation was because many of these actors and characters had turned away viewers in droves?

Are these going to be a reboot or a resurrection? Are they going to try to evolve these shows? Because if we're honest, there are plenty of people who really don't want that. They want to see exactly the same shows that went off the air. Same characters, same stories, same everything.

And that's one reason why these new shows won't last long, IMO. In a way, it's like that epiphany that Stephen King had while writing "The Stand" back in the '70's. When the book threatened to go off the rails, it was because, as King wrote in "On Writing," his characters had learned nothing from the apocalypse that had occurred at the start. I can't quote him exactly, but in essence, he said he felt as if God was saying, "I wouldn't give you people a second chance just to pull the same [!@#$%^&*] again."

Matt's comment in his article isn't clear. I'm not sure who he's responding to, the original post or the comment directly above his.

That comment made me do a double-take. I think in most cases what turned off viewers - outside of enviornmental changes of sorts - is the bad writing of many characters and bad storylines for a long period of time. With balanced, good writing you can make the worst actor a star. With writing that lacks balance and with writing that plain stinks you can make the best actor obnoxious.
