HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Yes.

Yes. And it would be a waste as she probably can't say anything anyways. Just chill, buddy. All will come out in due time.

Nobody needs to go to Facebook. We Love Soaps has confirmed the rumors.

Thanks!! How accurate is We Love Soaps?? I thought they were inaccurate. At any rate I will just wait.....

Susan would be great for OLTL she was there during the big DID storyline in 1995

I am cautiously optimistic about SBH as head writer. I thought her OLTL from 1994-1995 was fantastic. It was when Malone left and she was saddled with Laiman that things went down the drain. And remember, she was on the writing team before she became EP and helped create stuff like Megan's death, the aids quilt, and Marty's rape and trial.

Well, they are not reporting this as a rumor - they are confirming that Bedsow-Horgan and Racina have signed on the dotted line. I am going to go with this as a fact.

I knew ABC licensed the rights, not sold but I thought ABC had to pay PP to use them on GH. At least that is what I heard. At any rate I wonder if Maria wanted Erica Kane...

I really don't know how this ridiculous rumor started. ABC licensed the shows to PP; they didn't sell them. Therefore, it makes no sense for ABC to have to pay for characters they already own. If ABC had to pay for those characters, then they would have also had to pay to air the "classic" AMC/OLTL repeats on SOAPnet, and we all know they wouldn't waste money on that when they could just do reruns of beloved series such as Bank of Mom & Dad and Southern Belles: Loofah.

Susie Horgan is great. I dont know much about Thom, but she is a good choice. Her ATWT was flawless. Plus she has OLTL experience. Most shocking is that Marlene McPherson is in the mix for these shows. I enjoyed the DAYS reboot, but they werent innovative enough and I felt didnt understand how to pace stories or even episodes, which often felt slow.

I wouldnt mind Marlene Mcpherson being involved in some capacity, just not as head-writer. I think she had some great ideas while at DAYS, but didn't know how to properly pace the stories (i.e. Carrie/Rafe lip-locking before he even finds out that Sami cheated on him. The lip lock should not have even happened until after Rafe found out about Sami cheating on him, then he goes to Carrie for comfort.. and they end up kissing).

I think she would be good if used as a break-down writer since the one strength she had during her brief tenue was writing very effective scenes.

AMC head writer haven't been named yet, have they?

And I hope this pans out in the long haul, so P&G can sell their shows and I can get an ATWT & GL reboot. I won't settle for less.mad.giftongue.png

If P&G doesn't want to produce the serials anymore nor are they wanting to make them available such as on iTunes they might as well sell the rights to PP (or some other company). I can see them do what ABC is doing and license them so they can still make money off of them.

Uh no. PP needs to focus on these shows before grabbing a chance at the P&G shows. It's going to be awhile before I'm convinced they're in this for the long haul. I'm going to need about two years of these shows running flawlessly to be convinced.

This is great news that Susan Bedsow Horgan is returning to OLTL. This show was very near to her heart. Alot of people said Malone kind of sputtered out with Horgan. I will say though after Linda Gottlieb left that OLTL soared a bit. People don't remember LG left when the Viki/Dorian stuff about Victor came out. Horgan was part of the writing team in 1992-1994. Then she took over as executive producer in 1994 and I remember the late 1994/early 1995 OLTL was so rocking. It was the DID storyline coming to a huge head. Viki throwing Dorian down the stairs after confronting her about the molestation that IMO was riveting stuff. In fact Horgan's OLTL was riveting, I remember that period of time I was on edge of my seat. When JG left at end of 1995 it did go down a bit. Where Horgan lost her footing is when Malone left and she hired Leah Laiman/Peggy Sloane the show became a total mess under her. Then Horgan was shortly fired and they replaced her with Maxine Levinson who wasn't that rgeat. Its very refreshing PP really went for OLTL history here and brought back someone who was part of Gottlieb/Malone/Grffith inner circle. This is great news for OLTL. Also a fresh perspective to the show.

Great choices for OLTL. Wow. Going to make AMC's picks (e.g. Addie Walsh/Hal Corley or whomever) look very unexciting in comparison.

AMC better not get Marlene McPherson. Wasn't she threatening to sue someone a little while ago because they wrote that she and DRT wrote the DAYSaster story? Something is not right with her. Looks like PP was preparing for the WGA talks not to work out.
