Members allmc2008
Soaps past and present are welcome. For me it would be The Edge of Night and Days of our Lives. Also, why do soaps usually don't reveal the state?? Is it a creativity thing? I am guess that if they wanted to do a Gay Marriage it would be best to not reveal the state. Members CSF
Wasn't Monticello supposed to be in Illinois? Although maybe I'm mistaken since the Capitol of the state was called Capitol City.
Members Cheap21
Days is heavily implied to take place in Illinois
Members antmunoz
Weren't ALL the P&G soaps in Illinois? LOL. ATWT and GL characters used to hit Chicago mid-episode and return home by end. Always wanted Monticello to really be in Ohio.
Members frequentsoapfan
I don't think Passions ever said Harmony was in Maine just New England but pretty sure it was in Maine. I mean all the shots of the town were shots of Maine. But at one point the town seemed to be jumping around New England.
Members MrQuartermaine
GH might as well take place in Europe. It takes a day to get to NYC, but only a scene change to get from Switzerland.
Members DRW50
I don't know if Secret Storm, Love of Life, or Search for Tomorrow ever said where they were located.
Members SFK
On Capitol, most of the characters lived in a fictional suburb of D.C. called Jeffersonia. I don't think Virginia was ever *specifically* mentioned though it was obvious that that's what they were going for.
Members All My Shadows
I always thought DAYS was New England-based, what with the very Irish Bradys around. Also, I'm thinking Secret Storm's Woodbridge was supposed to be in upstate New York (near LOL's original setting of Barrowsville).
Members Eric83
I remember arriving to the conclusion Harmony was in Rhode Island but I dont remember why I thought this.
Members frequentsoapfan
Probably because the town was jumping around New England so much. At one point it was very close to Boston! But all the shots of the town were filmed in Maine.
Members Ira
I'm not sure early on, but since the 90s it's been implied to be set in Illinois. Characters often mention going to take in a Cubs game, Phillip lives close by in Chicago, etc.
Members jwsel
In Days, Salem is definitely in the Midwest, somewhere in the vicinity of one of the Great Lakes. Illinois, with the Chicago references, seems to be the more accepted location today and has been since the 90s. In the 80s, a lot of the references made it seem like Salem was probably in Ohio. (Bo wore a Bengals shirt; Kayla worked in Cleveland, which wasn't that far away; they were only a few hours drive to West Virginia; etc.)
Members Cat
Same here. And when JER began writing it, there was a definite Massachusetts/New England feel to it (not surprising since that's where he was based and from). Sigh. 1993-4 Days was the BEST. Members Y&RWorldTurner
I thought Reilly was from the Midwest? I think Utah.
