September 23, 201213 yr Author Member I need to add this one last song today--I especially love the part beginning at 3:44 where he concludes "My God....I don't even think that I love you." <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Yf_Lwe6p-Cg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
September 24, 201213 yr Member The 80s is my sweet spot because in the early 80s I was a young teen and then mid 80s I was off to college dancing in clubs just as Madonna was taking off and the songs we think typify the 80s were dominating. This is a song I loved from the very early 80s <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fH850qp85Zk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> and I remember this being all over the radio as the 80s were starting <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ppYgrdJ0pWk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
September 24, 201213 yr Member I love The Tide is High, although it always makes me think of Longtime Companion. Everything She Wants is the best song Wham did. Pop brilliance.
September 24, 201213 yr Author Member Everything She Wants is the best song Wham did. Pop brilliance. Agreed. I love Wham period. After Everything She Wants I'd probably go with Edge of Heaven. Here's Jack Wagner's best song imo ('wish I could find a better clip). It features Valerie Carter: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vhlgKPnZNeI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> My favorite Brenda Russell song is Way Back When but this ranks second. I didn't know Get Here (Oleta Adams' hit) was her song: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/H7u5GtSIC5k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Tears For Fears w/Oleta Adams <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QzkK3ZtI9SU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

September 24, 201213 yr Member This was a big hit in Sweden in 1987: The very first single from Roxette back in 1986: Carola Häggkvist was without a doubt the biggest female singer in Sweden during the 80s. She sold albums on a scale only matched by ABBA. In 1986 she was given the opportunity to work with the Gibb brothers (from Bee Gees). This was the lead single from the album:
September 24, 201213 yr Member Um...on that last song, did someone rip off that beat and some of the video (the chair part) for Paula Abdul's Cold-Hearted Slave? Edited September 24, 201213 yr by CarlD2
September 24, 201213 yr Member Let's have some non-English speaking artists now..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APTtkotTYXQ I think everyone remembers this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8mz9uOvFQA&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgldGHu0WXA
September 24, 201213 yr Member One non-english song towered over all others in the 80s and most of the english songs too <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9whehyybLqU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
September 24, 201213 yr Author Member One non-english song towered over all others in the 80s and most of the english songs too Really? "Cause if you asked me what might have towered over the non-English ones I'd say it was this : <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_w4Xulsjo5I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
September 24, 201213 yr Member Wales, thank you for starting this great thread. Even though it is unlikely that I will ever get to the 1980s on my #1 hits thread, I probably won't post personal favorites that reached #1. The Cars shockingly never had a #1 hit. My two favorite songs of theirs are: "Shake It Up" (#4, 1982) <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nrfdqHiFJ6w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "You Might Think" (#7, 1984) <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/O1V2m7jVyS8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Edited September 24, 201213 yr by Max

September 25, 201213 yr Author Member Wales, thank you for starting this great thread. Thank you for sharing. In my delusional mind no one could possibly love music as much as I do....but I know that's far from true. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HfIUiIYpDhU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> And I'll do do do do do do do anything for you: <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xVTEEeOEfKw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
