Six Feet Under - I grew to loathe Nate after the first few seasons but I watched for the others.

China Beach - I despised self-righteous, shrewish McMurphy (who every man had to fall in love with) in the last two seasons and watched for everyone else.

Buffy - popular choice clearly.

I saw this yesterday and within moments The Killing came to mind. I can't claim to have watched all of the episodes but even though I didn't think they showed enough to make me curious about who killed Rosie, I watched and discovered that I didn't like a single character on that show. Yet somehow I was annoyed by the first season finale that seemed to make Holder a part of the murder.

The character for which I should have had the most empathy, Mitch, was probably the character for which I had the most disdain at one point.

Then I started to try to think of a show on which I did like the main character and kept drawing a blank until I remembered my inexplicable fascination with Raylan Givens--Justified.

I didn't like Buffy either but I did like her with Angel--especially on the crossover episode because she was vulnerable and likeable with him.

I never really realized people viewed Kate as a Lead character. The lead female, sure, but id say she was below Jack and Locke, and on par with Michael (early on), Swayer, and Ben (later on). She was awful though. I know a lot of lost fans hate Jack but he is one of my favorite characters ever.

True Blood: Can't stand Sookie, Bill and Eric, but I love most of the other characters.

Grey's Anatomy: Never cared for Meredith and Derek, especially during seasons 1-3.

Dawson's Creek: Dawson was intolerable. Mainly watched for Pacey, Jen, Joey and Audrey.

Lost: I couldn't stand Jack, Locke, Sawyer, Kate and Ben. Still I watched it until the very end.

Six Feet Under: Nate bothered me a lot. Although I didn't him find that bad when I watched the show for the third time. Claire and Ruth were my favorites.

Roswell: Max and Liz were so boring. My favorite was Isobel until she was ruined in season 3.

Melrose Place (remake): Couldn't stand Ella, she always seemed so fake to me. I didn't like Katie Cassidy's way of portraying that character. I watched nevertheless for nostalgic reasons.

Brothers & Sisters: I hated Kitty, that obnoxious shrew, with a passion.

ER: Abby and Carter. The show had at least 13 regulars, but it was all about them (and Luka) come season 8. All the other characters only had secondary plots, appeared for like 10 seconds every episode or missed many episodes in a row. That eventually made me tune out for good at the beginning of season 11.

    • I've seen Jason interact with Mitch and annoy him. That's as far as I recall. I didn't even have a slight idea that Evan had a vendetta against Rachel... That came as a surprise to me. I thought Evan was Iris's dog and that's it. Now he's definitely more interesting.
    • Thanks for these. I can't recall -- did Evan's vendetta have any position on Mitch, or was it all about Rachel? @Maxim have you seen any Frames intreracting with Mitch in any way?
    • Thank you for the tag! It's always a pleasure to see these little pearls of memories.
    • Uh-oh. Today just might’ve been the first Paula/Jeanne stinker. I have a feeling whose fault that might be though. So, Doug III is getting a job at the Pub?  It’s good to see him interact with other characters. I enjoyed his scenes with Roman, even though the talk of Frankie and Max seemed a little random. And it also could be really interesting now that Tate knows. Days really need to start pushing their rivalry again. We need some follow up from the punch. Tying it all to Holly, to Sophia’s pregnancy, to the guys that Doug III owes money to could be good.  But yeah, wayyy too much Leo again in today’s episode. Seriously, has anything changed with this nothing character? I thought it was all Ron’s fault, but maybe Greg Rikaart is (partially) responsible for Leo being so insufferable.  And yeah seriously, Rafe needs to throw all of these people out of his house. Including Gabi

But I do wonder who’s the mysterious voice that Gabi overheard with EJ on the night he was shot. Based on yesterday’s episode, I have a suspicion.
    • Add me to the group of people who think that Brandon has improved. He has. There's no doubt about it. Especially compared to the beginning. And he's improving in a way that... it makes me think that he realizes what the issues are and is addressing them. Of course, he's no master of acting at this point... but I don't cringe as much as I did. And I've seen people in Bold... I won't even have to name names, because everyone knows who they are... who are becoming even worse than what they were offering in the first place. So... I'm happy that in BTG... people are actually blossoming and improving. It surely means that the atmosphere is creative and nurturing talent.  BUT and it's a big butt... his relationship with his husband is still so lacking and ghastly. I am craving to see more action from these guys. I want to see Smitty's character. If he has any.
    • Thank you. You guys come to the rescue again. I'll take a look later.   Thank you for the info!!! Now I find myself less confused. You and @DRW50 are amazing.
    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.
    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
