Seriously they need to give it up already, ABC isn't interested, nor is any other network really.

I can't wait for the rights for OLTL to be up in January that way if they want her KDP can go to GH full time

Wait, do you still believe the whole "Prospect Park won't let us hire her" stuff?

Yeah I do, they own the rights to everything, that's been confirmed many times(and not just by FV)

The new person in charge of ABCD even confirmed that the rights for AMC will revert back to ABC in Sept. so I don't get why some don't believe it

If they own the rights to everything than how are the writers allowed to name drop certain OLTL character names? And how come certain characters came over?

I didn't even have to open the thread. Just the subject title alone immediately made me say "...and I bet Marceline's right up on this, spreading her special brand of cynicism."

Indeed... indeed.

I've spent too much time around you people! dry.png

Obviously, I can't speak for everyone who remains skeptical, but I don't believe it for the simple fact that TPTB are trained to lie and should never be trusted about anything they say, positive and negative.

I don't question the PP owns the rights. That's obvious. I question (read: don't believe for a [!@#$%^&*] minute) that PP is exercising some uber-powerful control over who gets brought over. That doesn't make sense.

Damn right and I'm not about to apologize. That article is filled with the kind of magical thinking usually reserved for Disney movies and rehab clinics.

Especially when it's clear they don't intend to do anything with them at this point, and probably never did.

My "special brand of cynicism" aside, I would love if ABC or another network decided to do an AMC/Pine Valley spinoff as a telenovela. Preferably something less mainstream and vanilla than current soaps. Give me a season of shows about the Hubbards of Bianca/Marissa written and produced by someone who loves the soap genre yet is willing to reinvent it and I would be the biggest cheerleader ever.

But I'm not going to pretend to want AMC back regardless of the circumstances. I'm just not that "loyal" a soap fan.

Also that article is very poorly written on a number of levels.

I don't want to see any soaps have any more failed spinoffs. Just use that same money to create an entirely new soap instead of trying to capitalize off the original.

So wait, PP has had the rights to AMC for this whole year? And now ABC gets them back? All I'm looking for is DVDs/streaming. That's it.

It's weird to me that it's only been a year. I feel like AMC has been gone for ages.

Now that you say that I wouldn't mind them putting up episodes on Hulu.

It seems like an eternity to me, too, and I'm really hoping ABC is smart enough to put out some DVDs in the near future. If only Agnes Nixon and/or Lorraine Broderick could help put together a collection of the best stories/couples from 1978 onward!

You know, last night I was watching Chaka SuLu lounging poolside hosting her sexy murder show, and I thought once again, "Maybe cancellation was a blessing in disguise for her." I'm sure she misses Erica, but she's already a multimillionaire who will playing some riff off of the firmly embedded Erica image for the rest of her life, whether that be in series or in hosting gigs where they're looking to borrow her sexy soap diva bitch image (think Joan Collins post Alexis).

As for the rest of the show's rabble, well, I wish them the best. biggrin.png But seriously, unless put in the finest hands, I'm not sure an AMC reboot is what's best for them or us fans for that matter. Look at GH.

La Lucci definitely has no reason to return to Erica now that she's hosting her own show!

Wasn't FV supposed to be in charge of both shows on PP? I cringe to think what he would've done to AMC! That said, I wouldn't mind if 20 years from now someone rebooted the show focused around Miranda Montgomerey and AJ Chandler trying to live up to their family legacies.tongue.png
