Being that I started watching in 1999/2000, John Ingle is the only Edward I've ever known. For the most part, I've found the character to be an obnoxious old gas bag. I think John Ingle is absolutely darling, but I never saw Edward as a teddy bear. I DO think that he's all bark and no bite, however. Again, I came in after it became the Sonny and Jason show and they (as well as Carly -- even the original, REAL version) played the Quartermaines for doofuses time and time again.

We saw what a touching funeral Robin had. Maxie talking about killing Robin in front of her smiling daughter. An absentee father who took off to chase after a "son" he doesn't even know. A majority of her colleagues and co-workers choosing to work instead of attend the funeral... and about 3 additional extras due to, in Ms. Carlivati's words, "budget."

Edward as a character hasn't been relevant in at least 15 years. John ingle though seems like a wonderful man, talented, and I think everyone here is saddened over his health staus and wish him well. Are we really going to get into being respectful for a show executing a terrorist storyline over the anniversary of Sept 11th?

I think it's difficult to find a right way to treat an actor/character when the actor is in a prolonged state of ill health. I keep thinking back to Ruth Warrick's last appearances as Phoebe on AMC. She was clearly in failing health but still trying to give good performances but IIRC by her last appearance on the AMC 35th anniversary she was just wheeled onto the set. I can't recall if she even spoke any lines. It was bittersweet to say the least. But that doesn't change the fact that she loved the show and the audience loved her.

I'm not claiming to know what's "appropriate" in these situations but I think we can all acknowledge it's a tough one.

I wish Mr. Ingle the best.

I will always think of David Lewis as the "real" Edward Quartermaine but I think of John Ingle as Edward II. Totally different characters but I liked them both. Honestly, Edward should have been killed off instead of Alan during the MC hostage crisis. I guess Guza just wanted to give Jason more "pain" for his BOP and didn't think Edward dying would do it. It's time for Edward to go. If FV and RC can do something similar to the OLTL's Asa funeral, I will be content. But if it's anything like Robin's funeral - I'd rather they just ignore the character altogether.

General Hospital Hits a 2.5 on Monday in New Timeslot!

Jumping timeslots hasn't hurt ABC Daytime's General Hospital. In fact, the sudser was up a whopping four-tenths of a point over its Monday household numbers for the most recent ratings cycle. According to TV Media Insights, GH hit an impressive 2.5/8 in households on Monday. Comparatively, GH averaged a 2.0 for the week of August 27-31.

Considering none of the vehicles ABC Daytime or ABC News have developed to replace soaps have done business anywhere near this impressive (As if, Good Afternoon America!), it's clear GH is the Mouse House's best bet as a longterm lead-in for Katie on ABC-owned and operated networks. Good job, Team GH!
