Weird how Monica wasnt on in months and now seems to be on almost every day

You're both touching on a huge problem I'm having with this "storytelling" I've come to witness this past year under this team. The lack of balance and continuity. Characters and stories just aren't put on the backburner... they come to an abrupt halt and are shoved back into the pantry until the current plot driven tale of choice bores FVRC.

Were they giving Katy Perry free publicitiy today?

They were being pop culture savvy. <_<

I remember when we thought The Wanted were coming to play on Y&R because Harmony said they were gonna play at the gala.Turns out it was the writers trying to stay "current"

I already made it know I only watched some of that crap. Enough to see the lame insta pychos and teens.

Speaking of, I so see Sabrina becoming a psycho stalker in no time.

While the stuff with Katy Perry was obnoxious, I don't really mind that GH has been dropping some genuine movie and song names, etc--for so long now Soaps have ridiculously made up that stuff, and it just throws me. (I'm not talking about things like promoting The Avengers for a full episode, though... or having your kid actor think he's spider-man).

This is classic FVRC storytelling, and was one of the things that bugged me most at OLTL. It's hard to suspend disbelief that this is some sort of community when, for example, some psycho might have someone captured off screen for months and nobody on screen mentions it for a good month, etc., important characters who were on every day for a long period suddenly aren't on sccreen interacting with characters they're close to, with zero explanation (not even a throwaway line), etc.

I hate the pop culture references on soaps. They are so cheesy and date the clips straight down to the exact year. It's like when when characters try to be "down" and use lots of slang. Cringeworthy.

Meh I find it better I guess then when they make up fake titles of songs or movies. Who cares if a soap gets dated? but I agree with trying to use current slang--that never works.

You hit THE nail, RS! THE NAIL! This clown act churn the choppiest chit imaginable. By the time something comes to conclusion, if it does, the bottom has already fallen out. The characters have to be dumbed down so badly just to keep a story going should they decide to pick it back up w/in the year. Ron is completely clueless, and I leave Frank out of this one because before he met Ron across a crowded room, he did some pretty decent producing (with the exception of Spencer Truman).

Which was one of the main gripes I had about their work on OLTL.

I tend to blame it on the fact that FV block-tapes scenes. It's tough to maintain continuity when you're taping (on the same day) scenes to be used over, like, 16 episodes.

Good to see you again, Eric! (Or have you been around and I just haven't noticed, lol?)

What was the reference this time?

They talked about Scully being in town and how Lucy was involved with Luke and Sonny in the events leading to his demise

Luke and Lucy had some serious chemistry. He once said she was the only woman he'd cheat on Laura with. Too bad retcons later, that already happened but not with Lucy
