Y&R: Major character return in the works? SPECULATION

Yep.

It just pisses me off that the UK and Australia soaps are still thriving. And, in America...Well, the ship has basically sailed after 60+ years.

Those countries have soaps where actors of color aren't used as tokens to make certain viewers feel better.

LMAO! You crack me up. Don't forget Y&R had a "Kong". As you know, naming a black male character after a fictional giant ape is always an exercise in good taste.

"Kong"? Really? *hangs head down like Tom Dooley*

True, very true.

British soaps have run for decades because diversity wasn't just a word used to avoid NAACP/NCLR pickets.

British TV on the whole is more diverse compared to American TV. I watch too much BBC America.

Degrassi is more diverse than Daytime.

I don't know enough about UK soaps but I don't think race/nationality is anywhere near as important to the Australian audience as it is to the US audience. Australian soaps very rarely have actors of color at all. And Y&R, Days and especially B&B all continue to thrive in Australia despite their lack of diversity in recent years.

But it's funny how nobody has anything but good things about Greg Rikaart for publicly SLAMMING an actor on another soap.

That's because, dear... the soap actress he's slamming in on a competing network.

U.S. daytime could have learned so much from that show, seriously. Going back to the original let alone TNG. At it's best, it was great soap.

Yep. Papa Bell could have nicknamed him "Mandingo" instead and even THAT would have been more dignified.

It's the same reason you don't see older actors even though Golden Girls was a huge hit.

I miss the sitcoms with the older actors. Amen, with an older Sherman Hemsley. Empty Nest, which was Richard Mulligan. He was hilarious. (That was a GG spin-off). Barney Miller. (Abe Vigoda was hilarious). Those were some damn good shows. And, Barney Miller was very diverse.

They don't do anything right anymore. Soaps, dramas, or sitcoms.
