Yeah, as much as it angers people, record ratings for Saturday night showed that NBC is doing the right thing by not airing "signature" events live & saving them for primetime. if you have cable/satellite you can watch them live online, which personally I love. love being able to watch multiple streams online live. I've watched several sports like Archery and Whitewater 1-man canoe/kayak which I never normally watch or knew existed.

Yeah, Lochte TOTALLY blew it. I read some comments online that said Lochte's goal must be deny Phelps gold medals even it means costing him some too. laugh.png

LOL! People can be so dumb. laugh.png

Phelps now just needs to more medals to have the most ever.

Speaking of dumb, the rule for gymnastic of only have 2 people per country in the finals is pretty dumb.

I agree. Wieber got screwed big time. She was 4th in the Woman's Individual All Around, but can't compete in finals because only 2 per country can go. if either Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas are her roommates tonight, I'd sleep with one eye open. LOL!

I haven't watched Olympic gymnastics this intensely (hooray for TiVo!) since the Magnificent Seven of 1996. I know it's been a good number of years since they changed the scoring system, but it just doesn't seem to pack a dramatic punch that you're no longer able to get a "perfect ten".

And having only 2 gymnasts per team in the all-around? Bela Karolyi said it right: it should be the top 24 gymnasts, not the top 2 gymnasts from the top 12 countries. When did they make this change? From what I remember in the 90's, it was always 3 contenders, not 2.

And I was also surprised when I watched the Olympic tryouts that there are only 5 members on a team, but then they had back-ups? Weird. When I watched them in 1992, there were 6 teammates, then 7 in 1996. Don't remember past that.

I'm rooting for Missy Franklin too. Her parents are Canadian.

Lochte could've gotten silver or bronze but againhe loses steam down the stretch. He better not anchor tomorrow's relay.

    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
